Default Suggestion Needed: Panny BD80 or Pioneer BDP 320?

I am planning to upgrade my Panny BD30. Should I go for the BD80 or BDP 320. I am confused. Any suggestions would be appreciated. My only criteria is stellar PQ and AQ. I dont care about Netflix streaming etc etc.

Thanks Jacob. How much of a PQ and AQ difference did you notice in BD80. Is it worth the upgrade. Your insights is much appreciated.

a big upgrade with the panasonic 80. if your tv can do 24P.. then you can also watch dvds in 24P as well as blurays.
there is an internet connection for it.. the bdlive.. its much easier to do the firmware upgrade. no more downloading to the disc to upgrade. that is a big plus.
I never had the pioneer blu ray player, but I did have a receiver a long time ago.

How does the BD PQ measure up when compared to BD30. I do have a Panny 58" plasma 1080p/24 fps

since I had skipped the panasonic 35 and 55.. I noticed a big difference. I have an HDtv that can do the 120 refresh rate. are you planning to buy it locally or online?

Online it is - AMAZON - $202 with shipping. The price is on a free fall.
I am not sure if you're familiar with What Hi Fi magazine from UK. They rate the BDP320s a little higher than Panny BD80. That's the reason for my confusion.

You can always wait just a little bit longer as I believe Panasonic has a few new Blu-ray players releasing in November which would make sense. Retailers seem to be lowering the price on the 60 and 80 series a lot lately, which is generally a sign that a new model is hitting soon.

Ruby, I currently have the BD30 series myself and may upgrade to the next model Panasonic releases, but stupid question on my part, you mentioned "if your TV can do 24p then you can watch DVD's in 24pm as well as Blu-rays". I believe my Panasonic TH-46PZ85U supports 24p playback, so I would benefit from this IF I made the jump to the BD80 series, correct? I have noticed that some of my standard DVD's look quite good when playing on the 30 series, but I am growing tired of the long load times. I have heard the 80 (and 60) series has sped that process up, and can only imagine the next generation players will be even faster.

my panasonic loads up pretty quickly. I still have problems with the t2:skynet. that takes a bit. but titles like disney do load up faster.
it all depends on the model. sometimes there are some problems with each one. I remember having problems with the first alien movie on the panasonic 30. it got fixed.. however with the panasonic 60 and 80.. it still has that problem.
I had the 60 before I upgraded to the 80. do you have the bluray player 24 turned on so it can play blurays in 24? if so.. then it can do 24. I saw your specs on the tv.. I think it can. the only way is to try the 24 on the player.
Jacob
