White PS3

I was looking online and you can import a White PS3 from Japan, but I have a few questions about doing that and I was hoping that someone knows the answers.

1. Is it really region free like one web sight says for playing BR movies?
2. Will it play US Games or only Japan Games
and probably the most important
3. Is Sony going to sell a white PS3 in the US or do they have plans to do so?

1. No, not region free. Region A for Blu-ray, same as a US PS3.
2. Games are region free.
3. No, no plans that I know of. edit: Nope it is coming, thanks DSF.

1. It will play region A movies, just like a USA PS3. But it will only play region 2 DVDs and Japanese PS1 and PS2 games.

2.It will play Japanese and USA games.

3. There will be a white PS3 in the US, it will probably be released later this year.

The white PS3 is a 40gb model, so your not able to play any PS1/PS2 game.

Also note that the white ps3 has some sort of hardware censorship.
(The 2 known games are: Reistance & Uncharted.)

You won´t see any blood. At least for Uncharted.
(You can add a savegame to Resistance and it´ll work.)

No solution for uncharted though.

But I ordered this white baby as well. Mostly for "A" Blu-ray´s

PS1 games work fine on the 40GB, it's been emulated via software since PS2.

My dream PS3 would be a chrome design with two or more hdmi ports, 250 GB, PC Friendly, DTS MA, motion flow/automotion plus compatibility, 120 Hz, and most of all it'll be less expensive

I've always thought that a next generation console could get some good buzz going just by being chrome or even clear. It would look pretty slick and would just scream "next gen" alot more than the typical black and off-white that we usually get. I got one of the clear "Ice" original Xboxs from Canada and it looked gorram sweet.

Every PS1 game, psp does it fine. It's not a problem for the CELL BE.

White, silver, and black Dualshock 3 controllers can be purchased in Japan, but I don't know what is bundled in their current 40GB config.

Their upcoming white MGS4 bundles should have a dualshock 3.

I'm 99% sure it's the regular controller.

thanks for your help i was sure i read that once the DS3 came out they would be stock with the systems but everywhere i look for a white ps3 its only a normal one. I guess ill wait for the US white version to come out and maybe it will come with the DS3

It's coming, Sony submitted it for FCC approval. It's just a question of when.

It comes with a DS3. They had DS3s way before we could get them.
