Default Need Help Choosing TV

Ok so I have a Sony 3LCD 1080I 60 Inch TV. It has a horrible case of burn in from someone leaving a dvd on the menu screen for a couple hours and now it is part of everything. So here is the question. I want a 60-70 inch Full HD 1080P. It will be used for game-athons from a PS3 and 360 along with the occasional WII and PS2 gaming. Also watching Nascar and Giants games must be amazing. Other than that some HD cable. Don't really like plasma's. Not fond of the picture for some reason. Also trying to keep it as cheap as possible.

Back on topic. That's nice but a bit much. Can't afford a monthly payment. But I can goi about 3K give or take a few hundred.

then your on your own my friend. Realistically, I don't think you'll get over 60" with that price in mind. I would look to craigslist.com for someone trying to get rid of something for cheap. Sure it may be used, but check it out before buying, and maybe you'll walk away with a jem

Giants 20, Dallas 17. 3rd and 8 minutes remaining. Not to late to bet on this game

OT - sorry, but with the hype surrounding the sad waste of money that is the new Dallas Cowboys stadium, I was happy to see them lose their debut game in it. I'm no bleeding heart liberal (proud Republican), but I can only take so much bragging about a display that cost more than your previous stadium with all the starving kids in this country...all for a stupid game.

Sorry about the hijack. [/rant]

On topic, you won't get a quality LCD at the size you're looking for with a $3K budget. You need to do one of four things:

1. Settle for a so-so LCD display at your desired size.
2. Increase your budget significantly.
3. Decrease your size requirement to 52" or less.
4. Rethink your anti-plasma stance, and end up with everything you want, with superior PQ.

I'd push for #4.

Have you seen the Samsung LED DLP's? They are very nice, they have good lifespans and are within your budget. Check them out on Bing.

It also comes in a 61"

Have you considered FP....... they come in 150" + within your $3k budget

It won't give you the PQ of a high end LCD or Plasma at that price, but don't think for one second it's not going to look FANTASTIC...... Many people haven't seen a properly setup FP display.....

I guarantee friends will enjoy watching the game, or playing video games on a display that sized...... the "Wow" factor can't be beat in my opinion.... and I prefer the type of image a projector produces over LCD or Plasma..... same with CRT..... now if only I could get a CRT projector.

Obviously there are limiting factors to projectors, so what is the room setup like?
