Default Need Help Choosing A Sub

I am looking to replace my Onkyo HTiB subwoofer. I think that it is part of the P.O.S. series but am not sure. I thought I had it figured out to get the eD A2-300 but then I started reading about people having some problems with the new amps and them not being as powerful as the older ones. I then started looking at the AA HD. As much as I like the price ($200 instead of $350) and the amp rating (400 watts instead of 200 watts) I'm still skeptical. The old Onkyo and Infinity subs I had were both down firing and I loved the way they sounded. The Onkyo sub I have now is horrible (which is why I think it is part of the P.O.S. lineup). Should I stay with what I know I like (down firing) or take a chance and hope that the problem with my current sub is that it is an Onkyo and not that it is front firing?

As a general rule, down-firing and front-firing do not make a lot of difference. Both ED and Acoustic Audio are very good subwoofers. AA also offers 8", 10", 12", and 15" down-firing subwoofers at lower prices than their HD subs. If you make offers through their Ebay store, you can save another $20-$30. Check the links in the AA thread.

BIC and Premier Acoustics also offer good and economical subs.
