Default Bose cinema 2 system ?

Just checked bestbuy.com and ultimate electronics and this system is a good price but how good is the sound, does anyone have this set up and know if it's any good?

If you want good sound, I highly suggest you look somewhere else. No highs, no lows, must be Bose.

You can probably do better than the system you're looking at. Can you provide the link to the exact system you are referring to?

We'll have tons of options for you......

Not too much love for Bose around these parts.

There's a very simple rule when it comes to home audio - don't buy Bose. Ever.

Bose was at it's best when they introduced the 901's, they single handedly made their reputation, unfortuneately it has been all downhill (drop off) since then. When you by Bose you buy mostly marketing and reputation. The system you mention and I'm assuming you meant cinemate series II in terms of dollars spent for quality and performance your talking about $50, if you can get one for $50 then go for it.....

If I could snatch a pair of Bose 901's, I'd do so in a heartbeat!

The OP is asking for advise. I'm prepared to help him without any disparaging remarks.

I'd suggest you go to a local audio shops and have a listen to some other brands in your price range and choose whatever sounds best to you. I would also suggest looking at some of the stickies in the speaker/subwoofer forum to learn a little more about them. That way you know what you are getting, instead of buying blind.

I've been to Chandler AZ, and I know for a fact that they have a Best-Buy

I would suggest going to it, and listening to this system, and others within that price range....... (or whatever your budget happens to be)

Do you have a link for this system?

You can do much better for less. Many of the forum members will make good suggestions. But, if you are able, my suggestion is to audition first and then buy. Try not to buy without hearing the speakers that you purchase first.

That is mostly advertising hype, since they do spend a lot on that. But it all depends on who you talk to as well. A lot of people have never heard anything other than the cheap mass produced speakers (ie. 200-300$ HTiB).

You should stop listening to who ever told you that

On a more serious note go out and listen to various products and you will find a LOT of stuff nicer than Bose, especially with a $700 budget.

Very true. Plus I have heard this system more than a few times and I would not pay more than $100 for it.

Are you only wanting 2.1 or do you want 5.1 or 7.1?

2.1:

If that is the type of system you are looking for--if not I would suggest getting a good av receiver and a few speakers. You can always build onto a good receiver.

I'd settle for a 2.0 or 2.1 right now and build upto a 5.1 or higher
( just what I would do )

Sony 820 receiver ( I think it's a good budget pick ) $$250
http://www.amazon.com/Sony-STRDG820-...4188869&sr=8-1

Polk floorstanding speakers $$100 each
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16882290014
-OR-
Infinity floorstanding speakers (Primus 362,) $$150 each.

That leaves you $250 or $150 left of your $700 dollar budget. You can get a decent budget subwoofer for $250 or a good center channel for $150

Center channels
Infinity C350 ($150)
http://www.theaudiovideosource.com/InfinityPrimus.html
-OR-
Polk CS1 ($80)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16882290021

There are so many subwoofers choices that can be had for $100 - $250 and I'm sure a lot of people have better picks than I would.
Here is one to scope out though ( I hear good things about it )
$200 bucks
http://www.amazon.com/Acoustic-Audio.../dp/B001O6ON8E

I think if you spend a bit more on better quality equipment, though it will take longer to complete the surround sound, you will be happier in the end. It is always good to listen to speakers before you buy. I took a chance with my Infinity Beta 50s but I love them. I think Infinity offers great sound for the price. I'm a fanboy.

Lol where did you hear Bose was the best? Probably a best buy employee looking to make a desperate sale, heard the same stories so many times when I pass by there, feel sorry for the old chap that buys into Bose's advertisements. Seriously, listen to these people and stay away from anything Bose. You won't regret it. Funny how we own Bose, don't throw away your hard earned cash like my parents did.

Edit: Damn, I just realized what model you were getting, those are the worst imo.

I looked at that link a little late. One of my buddies bought that same bose setup. It sounds alright at low volumes. cranked up I think it sounds horrible. The bass is nasty and there is no high end. My $70 2.1 creative speakers for my computer sound better IMO.
