Bose is likely to be the last person to make anything with these codecs.... the like to keep everything to themselves. Thats why the sell so many "in box" sets that don't integrate well with other components! For the money, there is far better, not sure how Bose got all the hype that they have today....

Bose markets components with low performance to price ratios to the less tech-savvy masses through pretty questionable sales and advertisement techniques. Their target group is not the early adopter crowd. You won't see them get into this area until all the required components are completely into the commodity pricing arena, as their stuff is all made from the least expensive components they can find.

I would guess they won't have systems with the new codecs in mind for about another 18 months at best, more like Xmas season '09.

Bose relies heavily on marketing (promoting their so called "patents", just remember not all patented products are useful, or even an improvement over similar items!!) and the fact that people go

"wow if its THAT expensive it MUST be good!"

Havent we all said that atleast once in our lives?

That's so true. When I read this post, the thought that jumped into my head was "Bose is still selling an FM radio."

Bose products are directed towards a specific consumer demographic and it isn't one that is looking for cutting or bleeding edge.

Yeah, but it's a WAVE radio. Because for the same price as the radio, you could have flown to the beach and had a nice vacation.

u r right, they are over rated, and MErc and Audi already dropped BOSE about two yrs ago, Merc uses Harman Kardon Logic 7 as the one in BMWs and Audi is a step up using B&O which really is a nice touch the only car audio in the world now can compete with Lexus' Mark Levinson and Aston MArtin's Linn, both r my fav brands.

and the point is, BOSE is no good and they dont even bother to have anything next gen decoder in their system, and the reps told me, oh we just dont care at this point..... speechless.
