This should be coming soon from the new distributor called The Film Detective. They're strictly focusing on public domain titles. Just set your expectations low - you know, being a PD title and all - and maybe you won't be disappointed with this release.

Wow, it's nice to see an official US release. I'm curious how it will turn out. Maybe this will encourage other companies to put out their versions like the DVD releases. It'd be nice if this got a ground up 4K remaster but that isn't likely to happen at this point.

I own the Happinet Blu-ray of Night of the Living Dead, so The Film Detective will really have to impress the daylights out of me for a double-dip to be considered.
That said, I'm all over The Film Detective release of D.O.A., because that's a public domain film that needs some high definition love. |

It's highly unlikely they'll be able to top the Happinet (or any of the other Dimension-transfer sourced releases) in A/V, if only because it's highly unlikely they have access to the OCN. If they have decent film elements and ditch the George Romero's controversial framing choices for that transfer, this could still make for a nice alternative, if not necessarily better, release.
I'd be even more interested if they attempted to replicate a 1.85 theatrical aspect ratio that this film likely would've been projected in when it was released. ... and the Elite Entertainment Millennium Edition is probably the best source for this film without those cropping choices. |

For those that want the Happinet release but want to buy from a US seller, DiabolikDVD has it.
