Default Region Free?

When a title is region-free, does that mean you can play it in a standard blu-ray player or do you have to have a special blu-ray player. I really want to buy The Deer Hunter (UK), but have just a normal Sony blu-ray player. Would that work? Sorry if this question is a bit stupid.

region free means you can play it in a blu-ray player from any country/region
so yes, if Deer Hunter UK is region free you will be able to play it!

Almost all region-free Blu-rays will work in any BD player in the world. The only exceptions are titles with 1080i/50 Hz content. Most American players will not play those titles. The reviews on this site usually mention if it is playable on an American player.

The main feature most likely will play (if it is 1080p24), but if the bonus features are in PAL format or 1080i50, most North American players/monitors will not be able to view them

Had a look at Deer Hunter in HMV the other day and it says Region A&B on the back.
