Default STAR TREK (original movies)

Sorry mods i searched and could not find a thread although i am sure there is one, just buried under the thousand discussing the NEW TREK.....

Just wondering, are the "singles" listed on this site the only ones available unless you get the boxset?

Listed are 2,4,6,8

kind of weird to only offer those individually! where are the odd numbers lol.

I ask because i wanted to pick up a trek or two, and i also want to get other stuff on black friday.... so no boxset for me right now. But i am afraid to get one or two movies if i will be forced into the boxset when funds become available just to complete the collection.

ANY ONE?

For now the other individuals ones seem announced for other countries only. Check your site settings for those.
To me it was cheaper to buy the box sets.

well the box sets work out to 10-11 for each movie in the OS and TNG

right now though they have a few at 7.99 which isn't saving a ton, but i can also get them "right now" .... would just hate to do that and then not see a release for the odd number movies.

Just wondered if they were available and amazon simply was not selling them, or the odd numbers didn't get an individual release, and the only individual TNG so far was first contact.

Are you sure? I have noticed that Amazon is selling some of the individuals from the good ole USA. But as the question was asked, it seems the odd ones are not listed. Strange huh?

It was a well known Trekkie law that the odd numbered ones sucked, until 10 came along. (actually I like 3 a lot) I guess they are only offering up the ones they feel are the good ones.

That seems to be the case although this "even films only" thing appears to be overstated. Plenty of people do not like IV which is the save the whales film. Maybe that worked 20 years ago, but whales? Ugggh. The Motion Picture is a film with a slower pace but still has something to offer. Final Frontier(V) is the true disaster of the series.

As for separates, Amazon is selling 2,4, and 6 by themselves. The rest are import only.

yea, kind of anoying that they did this. I just watched the new film and I am currious about the original films. I dont want to buy the box set incase I dont like them. I wanted to start with the first two films, but only the second one is available... too bad

yeah if i had some kind of confirmation of them coming out some time soon i would jump on a few for the price today. But 7.99 is only good if i can complete the set of individuals later, otherwise it is 7.99 + the price of the box set later which sucks.

O well, i guess paramount or whoever owns those didn't want my money. Least they could do is lower the boxset to match the individual price reduction, then i might be tempted to try to sneak it through on our credit card

I picked up 2,4,6, and 8 for $7.99 each today or $32 total.

I have the 1st one on DVD and would like to get 1 and 3 eventually on Blu.

Trust me. Start with the second film, Wrath of Khan. You do not need to see the first film to understand this. Also, if you watch the first film, you may never make it to the second.

No guarantee, but I would think that the others would become available within a year or two. But you never know, which is why I purchased all the box sets.

Also, it hasn't been mentioned that if you don't want the whole box, you can get 2, 3, and 4 in a three disc set.

Yeah i have held off, and pretty much depleted my BF funds for today. Looks like i will have to exercise some patience, and get the box set later on. I would guess would we see them at some point, but no sure thing when it comes to home video sales.

Dang hard passing up on that 7.99 price for 4 of the movies though.

Nemesis isn't as bad as people make it out to be. While its not the best Trek film, its certainly not the worst. Its definitely better than the TMP, FF, or Insurrection.

Post Odd-numbered Star Trek movies on Blu-ray

Since the 2009 Star Trek reboot and four of the even-numbered Star Trek movies (Part 2: The Wrath of Khan; Part 4: The Voyage Home; Part 6: The Undiscovered Country; and Part 8: First Contact) are already released separately on Blu-ray (with the exception of Part 10: Nemesis), I wonder how long will Paramount take to release the odd-numbered Star Trek movies (Part 1: The Motion Picture; Part 3: The Search for Spock; Part 5: The Final Frontier; Part 7: Generations; and Part 9: Insurrection) separately on Blu-ray? Hopefully soon...very soon!!

Im wondering if and when they'll just go totally apeshit and just release the ENTIRE film collection as one big set. From The Motion Picture up through the last "Next Generations" film(I dont even know what that is!).

Or, just go all separate. I hate this "game" they play. Just freegin release them both ways everytime.

If you want the odd ones as well, it makes more sense to just buy the excellent boxsets and get the bonus discs as well.

just a quick question on the stand alone ones and the discs in the boxsets, are the transfers identical?

Or the stand alone ones have better transfer and extra supplements?
