Raising a child is a great thing, if your wife wants it and you can afford it I would recommend it over anything else. I would give everything I have to this day, and be happy about it, to raise another child of mine.

Funny, cuz I was the one who said we should have our second sooner than later. I didn't want to be an old fart by the time they were 18.

Even still, I'll be 48.

Just do it, but make sure you aren't succesful the first or second time!

Haha, 30 isn't too old to be having kids, especially these days. I think it's rarer to come across people having kids in their early/mid 20s.

I'll be damned if I'm an old fart when I'm 48. I hope I'll still seem like I'm in my 30s.

Her logic is that she wants our daughter to grow up with a sibling and not be alone.

My daughters are 5 and 8. They keep themselves busy 75% of time they are home from school. Only children starve for a sibling.

It's awesome to watch them play, fight and grow. We couldn't afford it, really, you never can.

Just go for it...and don't look back.

I've taken 1 nap in the last 5 yrs.

Yeah, my wife and I thought that when we decided to have another (we have a 3 year old daughter). Then 9 months later, twin boys.

I'm loving it though. Kids are great.

I think this might be a question of culture.. I'm 19 and my dad is close to 60! The average age for first time mom's in Europe is above 30 me thinks - maybe even 33

Could be. I think the average in the US is around 25 or so for a first time parent, but who knows how much that number is skewed by teenage pregnancies.

Well, it doesn't stop after two (the topic of having) children. I had to endure that discussion many times. The funny thing is that all of our children were unplanned. She always talked about it, then after a few weeks she seemed to forget about it. We never actually tried to have children, it just kind of happened. Someone should have told me what caused this phenomena...

BTW, I am 34 and my children are 13, 8, 6, almost 4.

A child is your legacy, and a blessing. I don't have a child of my own but definitely if conditions are supportive in the future then I would love to have a kid of my own.

It may be my age, or several other factors speaking, but I do not intend on ever having a child/children and at least currently cannot imaging ever wanting to have a child/children. I surely can't be the only one who thinks/fells this way on this forum can I?
