Default Help me troubleshoot HK AVR 247 vs BD350

Long time lurker here, could use some help now. Trying to figure out if my problem is my receiver or Blu Disc player. Have an HK AVR-247 and Sony BD350. Threw in a rental Blu last night and there was popping in the front and rear channels and the voice track would cut in and out. Picture is just fine. I updated the firmware on the BD350 then tried 3 other Blu's... same thing (surround mode is PCM on all). Threw in a DVD in the BD350 and it worked just fine on the Pro Logic mode. Put the same DVD back in this morning and it came up on PCM and wouldnt work, now no sound at all. Tried another DVD, no sound either. Tried to select another surround mode on the 247 but it wouldn't change. Sound from my DirectTV comes through just fine (and isn't this PCM too?). Seems to me its the receiver, but since sound is fine through my DirecTV I'm confused.

I agree, probably the receiver.

Your HDMI port may have crapped out. Try another HDMI port and see if that solves the problem. Also, have you tried another HDMI cable?

Thx, should have done this. Switched the HDMI between Satellite and Blu Ray. Sound worked fine on both. Switched it back the way it was and the sound was fine again! ???

Good news is its working now, bad news is I don't get to upgrade...

That's great! Good to see that all is well. There's nothing like a good upgrade, but really you have a great receiver. I have the same one as well and I just don't see any need to spend more money. The sound quality is awesome! If it isn't broke there's no need to fix it.
