Need a new receiver - quick! - Blu-ray Forum

Just learned that my new 500M doesn't have any audio outputs other than HDMI. My receiver doesn't accept HDMI, so something has to go....

Time for a new AVR! This was unexpected, and to be honest, I'm a lil peeved I've got to go off and spend more money. Anyways, I'll keep a want list then maybe I can get some suggestions.

- HDMI capable
- Latest HD codecs
- Pre outs
- Inexpensive (sub $400, but the cheaper, the better)

At some point, I"m planning on getting an external amp, so the rated watts don't need to factor into which AVR to purchase.

EDIT:

Nevermind. I just realized I could take the HDMI to the PS3, then the PS3 optical to my AVR. (exactly like I had it set up before..haha) Panicked there for a sec - sorry! People can still suggest an AVR, but I think I want to hold out for the UMC-1...

Interested in a Marantz sr5003? I have it for sale in the equipment/trading forum. A lot of interest but no one pulling the plug on it yet. How's that pioneer treating you? I'm waiting very impatiently for mine to arrive (Tuesday).

Drew664 the Marantz seanfarley2 has for sale is probably the very best receiver you'll find in your price range. It may otherwise be tough to find all the features you listed for the price you want to pay. The biggest problem on your list is the pre-outs. There are plenty of receivers out there in your price range that have all the other features, but once you add pre-outs you go up a good bit in price.

+1 for the Marantz.. Wish I could afford it

. If you can, you'll be more than happy, and maybe won't need to add an amp right away

I got the AVR 254 from Harman Kardon, and it has all those features

If you look online, you might find some good deals on it as its an outgoing model. Awesome buy for me..
