Mad Men
Dexter
Survivor
The Office
30 Rock
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Real Time with Bill Maher

Those are the only ones I will make a point to watch or record and I will always make room to see Mad Men when it first airs. Nothing new besides Modern Family has caught my eye and even that I forget about week to week.

Really need to get Sons of Anarchy on DVD sometime. Have only heard good things and I need more new dramas.

Didn't know it was out on BD and it is 40 bucks on Amazon. I think I'm going to order it right now!

Thanks for the heads up.

Dexter is a semi-guilty pleasure to me. I loved it initially because it was a new and fresh idea but it has become a bit repetitive and sometimes I feel the writers think too highly of themselves when writing the dialogue but it is still a good, fun show and definitely keep watching. Just don't expect it to get much deeper than it already is. /gets off soapbox

Forgot to mention Friday Night Lights when it returns at the end of this month on DirecTV. Criminally overlooked show.

Interesting question.

I initially didn't watch the show when it came out on the basis that guy who created it (Peter Berg) was the same one who did the film Friday Night Lights which I pretty much hated. Standard, cliche Hollwoodized version of football and used a skeleton outline of the book as its basis. Now the book was one of the best non-fiction works I've read in a while and was so much deeper than the film. Long story short the film just left such a bad taste in my mouth that I wouldn't want anything to do with the series.

I ended up borrowing the S1 DVD from a co-worker after he raved about it and due to the fact that we have similar tastes. Well I watched the entire first disc of 4 or 5 episodes that night until like 1 or 2 in the morning and mowed through the rest of that season in a single weekend. Rinse and repeat for seasons 2 and 3.

Now to answer your question I don't think it would make you dislike the show as it is undoubtedly a show that tells a story about humans and their relationships with the central connection being football. The games are showcased but not as the central storyline or plot device in the episode. I'm not the biggest of football fans even though I enjoy it but this is a character drama first and foremost. At least give it a try and buy some episodes of iTunes or something if you are at all interested.

I think the pilot episode is one of the handful best single episodes in the history of dramatic television. It is THAT good and sets up the show in incredible ways. The acting talent here is top notch across the board. So many great characters. This is the essential drama based on the tired out plot of growing up, teenagers, relationships, etc.

Sorry to ramble/mini-hijack but I'm just such a big fan of this show and want as many people to experience as possible that I needed to give it some context/background. Can't recommend it enough.

Modern Family (Great new comedy)
How I Met Your Mother
The Simpsons
Family Guy
The Cleveland Show
South Park
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

I used to watch Heroes but I have now official given in up on it.

I don't really watch a ton of shows when they air ( no DVR sadly either ) so I usually wait till they hit dvd / blu like right now, I am watching Dollhouse and Bones (Season 2 currently but I bought S4 on Blu & plan to watch it soon).

My wife and I aren't really big TV watchers. We don't have too many shows that we watch regularly. Actually, this season I would say that I have only three.

Survivor - When this show first came out I thought the concept of this reality show just looked awful and silly so I didn't watch it at all. The second season (Australian Outback) began immediately following Super Bowl XXXV. Me and one of my buddies, who likewise had no interest in Survivor, thought we would give it a shot. I was hooked...instantly. I have not missed one single episode since. I am truly a fan of this show and will be until it is cancled.

V - Although it has yet to begin, I remember the orgininal from when I was a child and will probably start watching this one.

America's Next Top Model - WHOA!! Actually my wife and I watch TV together. SHE'S the one that likes this show (If I weren't married I wouldn't be watching this one). Actually we usually have to record it and watch it later because it comes on when we are at church on Wednesday evenings. She's just a girlie-girl.

Definitely watch Friday Night Lights, all 3 seasons are cheap on Amazon and the show has been renewed for 2 more seasons, although the new season doesn't start on NBC until next summer, but if you have DirectTV the new season starts this month. Football in reality plays a very small part of Friday Night Lights. It is an aspect of the show, but a dislike of football shouldn't be enough to ruin the show for you.

I've been finding myself watch fewer shows this season. The shows I currently watch are Mad Men, Dexter, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Simpsons, Family Guy, The Office, 30 Rock, Big Bang Theory, and How I Met Your Mother. I've finally given up on Heroes. I stuck with it through 2 bad seasons and finally had enough. I also will watch Chuck, 24, and Lost when they premiere next year.

I haven't been loving the new shows this year. I like Cougar Town, Glee, Community, and Modern Family, and have watched all their episodes. I am not sure about Flash Forward. I've watched about an episode and a half and will keep watching it but if it doesn't get better by tonight's episode I might give up and wait for the Blu-ray.
