Default Quality 32" LCD for Mom

My mom is ready for a 32" LCD TV, as her 27" Toshiba tube TV is about to poop out.
Any recommendations for a good quality brand of 32" LCD for my mom?
I think the best ones you can get are Sonys and Pannys. But any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I have a Samsung 32B360 in my bedroom and I like it very much. The picture is very good. I wasn't necessarily looking for a new TV but I saw that Walmart had it for only $438 a couple months ago and just had to get it. It's 720p, but at that size, that's fine with me.

at 32" just get whatever is cheapest. Pretty much any set at that size is going to suffice. no need to spend anything extra because you really aren't going to notice it.

Thumbs up

Can't go wrong with a nice Sony LCD. Samsung is great also but I had 1 bad experience with them. I've never had any Sony product fail on me, which is why I keep coming back to them.

I think the new Panasonic LCD's are very nice. They have solid black levels and are very affordable. If not Panasonic, I'd say go with a Sony. Stay away from Samsung and Vizio. Lackluster reliability from both companies, IMO.

Sony and Panny, you're already on the right track. They're the most reliable, too - Mom doesn't need hassles...

Whaaaaa?

My 32" Samsung LCD has been golden for 3+ years and the bang to buck ratio on my 42" Vizio is off the chart.

Its for a mom. She wants a nice TV to watch and I doubt she'll be spending a ton on time of the forums to find out if another $200 on a "higher end" set would give her a 1% better picture.

Get the Vizio and send her some flowers. She's your mom.

I personally would get my mom and Sony or a Samsung. I had one bad experience with VIZIO and that was enough for me. I wouldn't lower the standards for my mom.

Sony 32" sets can be found nowadays between the 500-600 dollar range.

I disagree.

720p or 1080p aren't all that different at most viewing distances, so either should be fine. The new Sony Bravia models are very nice in my opinion (my sister just bought a 22", and you have to turn of all the noise reduction features, but once you do it looks marvelous).

I have a Samsung 32B360 in my bedroom and it is very nice hooked up to my backup blu-ray player. I would say you should check out Sony Samsung and Panasonic. All 3 are great TVs.

aren't you agreeing with me then? I'm saying that you don't need to spend extra for 1080p or 120hz etc etc because at that size screen you aren't really going to notice the difference. so just get what is cheapest!
