I have an Onkyo 805 and have never run into that sort of issue if you want to call it that. You can try to go into the menu and go to (6.) Miscellaneous. From there select 1. Volume setup. In this menu under the scrolling choice, you can set the Manimum allowable volume as well as other volume options.

No No. Go back to the main menu under the setup button on the remote or receiver. You should a list:
Input/Output Assign Speaker Setup Audio Adjust Source Setup Listening Mode Preset Miscellaneous Hardware Setup Lock Setup You need to select Miscellaneous -> Volume Setup -> Maximum volume (adjust to your liking. I wouldn't go higher that +5db on mine just due to the amount of sources with different voltage inputs I have analogue wise. |

+10db is pretty loud for any sort of listening. Under DVD and Blu-ray playback you're looking at about 110db+ depending on the mix's master volume. That's pretty loud and loud enough to cause permanent hearing damage in less than fifteen minutes. I understand that it won't go louder even though in your attempt you want to, but is it worth the hearing loss and risk.
Another thing, at this point, our 805 is running out of gas and you run the potential risk to drive your speakers into clipping which can and will blow them. If that doesn't happen, you can fry the 805 which happens to be one of the most sought after entry level receivers till this day since it's release. Again, if you wish to push the danger limit, you know how to change the maximum volume allowed by the receiver. Again it's under Miscellaneous, Volume Setup. Once in that menu, scroll down to Maximum volume, and toggle left or right to lower or raise the limit. The maximum allowed is +17db. |

I don't have mine any longer so you will have to find this on your own. To keep everything even in the speaker setup, whatever the amount you turn one speaker up just make sure you do the same with all. If you turn 6db up on the center just make sure you turn 6db up on the rest of them each. Quick question: What speakers are you using? |

In my 605 there is a setting called 'intellivolume', and I can only assume it's in the 805 as well. Check to make sure it's set to 0 or higher. I'm at work right now, so I can't tell you exactly where it is in the menu, but maybe someone else here can direct you how to find it.
