Talking Cant get enough Shooters? Here is a new one: INVERSION

Quote:
Namco Bandai today announced a new third-person co-operative shooter for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Inversion, developed by Saber Interactive (they made TimeShift), takes players through intense firefights and a suspense filled storyline. Planned for a 2010 release, the game will introduce zero-gravity combat and destructible cover, using Havok's destruction engine.

The game's press release explains the game's plot best:

"Set in the near future, the tranquil peace enjoyed by mankind shatters with an unforeseen invasion by an unknown enemy called the Lutadore. Armed to the teeth with futuristic gravity-controlling weapons, the Lutadore easily overrun the city’s defenses.

"Unbeknownst to all, mysterious anomalies have surfaced in conjunction with the invasion. Random regions in the city have entered zero gravity or have suffered vector changes, throwing the world into topsy-turvy chaos.

"Assuming the role of Davis Russel, a hotheaded 28-year-old cop, or Leo Delgado, Davis’ neighbor, players will embark on a journey through the war ravaged gravity twisted disorienting streets of their home town and beyond, to find Davis' missing child."

Players will be able to manipulate gravity with the game's unique Grappler weapon; moving huge objects to use as shields, weapons, or even to solve puzzles. It seems to be a little bit reminiscent of Capcom's Bionic Commando. However, Saber Interactive's CEO believes that the game does things people didn't think was possible in this generation:

"Working with Namco Bandai Games on a project of this caliber is a complete thrill," said Matthew Karch, CEO of Saber Interactive. "We are doing things in Inversion that most people didn’t think possible on the current generation of consoles. We can’t wait to get Inversion in the hands of gamers across the world."

"Inversion will turn the shooter genre upside down, literally," said Todd Thorson, director of marketing and public relations, at Namco Bandai America. "Saber Interactive’s innovative gravity manipulation feature will blow away any preconceptions of what a contemporary shooter should be."

Inversion will be out for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in 2010.

I can't decide if the graphics look good... or terrible. Shots 1,2,4,5, look great, but certain aspects of shot 3 look terrible. And what's with the Spray paint tool being used in Shot 5?

And I don't think this game brings anything new to the world. Kinda lame looking.

I was hoping for a Shooter in the vein of Gradius (which was promised to be a PS3 launch title from Konami )

Is that Dom from Gears of War.. Heck the graphics engine looks like Gears of War with a few more color shades added in, slightly less HGH'd characters....man that bloom lighting has to be outlawed from games from now on..Whoever thought that was a good idea and to keep using it.

I'd have to see some gameplay before judging but it doesn't get me excited looking at the pictures.

I'm assuming it is because those shots are from a development build since release is 2010+. The shots definitely do look crappy but I'd probably hold off judgement on the graphics until it is closer to release.

If you just played Uncharted 2 that's why.

But seriously, the textures are pretty low budget in those screens and rarely have normals on them.
