Default What brand Blu-ray will have a MSRP under 499.99 first

I work in retail, but I have no idea who will break the 499.99 msrp first. My bets are on sony, but I get the feeling the companys dont want to compete with each other as far as price, just features. Just wanted to here youre guys opinions. thanks

Sony should be the first one to bring $399 bluray players, and the rest will follow...I suspect we will see a $399 bluray player by year end., which will ofcourse sell for $315-$350 retail.

you cant count a special discount, we're talking mass consumer market.

I suspect that the BDP-S300 will be $399 in October.

I know, I said mine was originally priced at 475, which is less than the "499" in the title.

Several rumors from several sources (I hope) project the 80GB PS3 to be $499 next month. I'd be surprised if Sony was pricing it lower than their lowest standalone.

I'm guessing the PS3 and the S300 will drop at the same time.

My point is that even if they are suggesting you sell it at 499, people already are coming off that price.

Intamin, I know what youre saying. What I was asking is the manufacturers suggested retail price. That is what the price of the item is if its not on sale and usually is unilatteral. To date, no one has eclipsed 499.99. We have the s300 for 449.99, but when that sale ends it goes back to 499.99. Im wondering who will break 499.99, like sonys new msrp is 449.99 or similar.

Could have sworn BDP-S300 MSRP was 499.99. Does the op mean who will have MSRP 499.98 and below? ??? ?

My PS3 60gig was MSRP $499.99 When I bought it in July of this year. So I guess the answer is Sony PS3. I think the better question is: When do you see the MSRP of the bottom of the line Blu player hitting $399?

My guess is Sony and either the s300 or the PS3, if not both.
