Default Dumped my cable! I need some MORE help.

Greetings fellas. Well, I dumped my cable provider, just too damn expensive. All I did was watch Seinfeld and Everybody Loves Raymond re-runs. Just going to keep the internet and bump it up to 15mbps. Bought myself an HD antenna, the Channel Master 4228HD Long-Range Outdoor Rooftop HDTV Antenna, to pick up over the air HD channels.

Now, my question is: what's a good HD tuner to hook to my receiver, preferably component and HDMI, so I can watch television on my projector. I only need one all the other TV's have built in tuners. And a good amplifier because I'm going to be hooking up 6 TV's.

Thank you for all the help guys!

But, I started looking at this program called Satellite Direct. Access to 35,000 channels from all over the world through your computer, this includes HD channels, all for like $100. Now, this seems too good to be true. I feel I might get scammed if I buy in to it. I've tired searching for some negative feed back on the internet and found none. And all the articles seems like they've been written by the company. So have you heard anything about this? Or is this a high end scam like the HD Vision Glasses you see advertised on TV?

I am not a member (don't have the time for more forums), but for OTA stuff, I have not found a better place then http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=81

I don't blame you for dumping cable. I use an antenna at home too. I haven't subscribed to cable for over a year and I'm glad I'm saving a good amount of dough while I'm still getting a good amount of HD channels. Heck, they look better than what you get on cable and satellite.

I can live without HBO and CNN.

Over the air HD looks way better than cable or satellite HD... I totally agree with you...

Yep. Glad I'm not the only one. It seems to be becoming more popular these days. Antenna is making a comeback.

Over the air HD signals aren't compressed as they cable signals are...unsure about satellite but I would imagine those, too, are compressed or more compressed than an OTA signal.

OTA HD signals are stellar! I love Dolby Digital 5.1 on primetime shows like CSI. Those multi-color pictures of Miami or w/e are breathtaking.

When I had Dish Network I used to switch to my antenna for local channels because they were so much clearer. In February, I switched to Directv and I must say the locals are every bit as clear as the antenna. To me, satellites are awesome and cable providers suck big time. I'd rather watch from an antenna before I'd deal with cable again.

I agree I have the same antenna you do and get about 30 channels in. I only watch about 10-15 of them but the HD stuff is so much clearer on my tv via OTA than my mom's house that has Time Warner. CSI Miami is one of my favorites to watch along with most CBS programing. Can't beat it since I pay nothing to get the channels.
