Default Question For The Owners of The BDP-S300

Can somebody please comfirm that if you let the unit turned off by itself with a BD disc inside, when you power the unit On, it will resume playback from where the movie left off?

I know this works on regular DVD's but I want to know if it works on BD discs as well. Please help!

Don't think so. Page 21 of the manual notes "resume is cancelled when power it turned off". Is does work on the Samsung players.

Thanks. That's what I thought, but someone on this forum mentioned that a way around that was to let the unit turn off by itself, and the BD disc will resume playback right where it left off.

Can someone please perform this test just to make sure?

I can't speak for the BDP-S300, but for the BDP-S1, if you pause the movie, press STOP, then power off, the movie will resume where you left off. If you go straight to power-off, it will not remember and will start at the beginning.

Did you try letting the unit power off by itself? Some people on this forum are saying that's the trick. Can you try that and let us know?

Thanks.

I have the S300 and it seems to power down by itself pretty quickly once you actually STOP a movie... less than 15 minutes.

If I'm watching a BD, I can hit Stop ONCE and it will let me resume. So far this has worked on every BD I've tried. If It press Stop TWICE, it begins from scratch.

The only exception to this was Bridge to Terabithia, which when I pressed Stop once, it told me to "press Play to resume". But when I did that, it re-started the movie. Go figure. Sounds more like a firmware fix than a hardware limitation.

If I'm watching a movie and let the player turn off by itself, when it starts up again it will always start from the beginning.

yeah, resumed just fine so long as u don't shut er down. with my toshiba hd-a1 if i hit stop, it's back to the beginning.

like i said, resume works when off if it's a dvd, so I think they'll fix this for bd's in a fw update.
