Default Sony BDP-S300/Die Hard owners

Hi everyone,

I know I've brought this topic up before but I'm just looking for any other advice. Back in November I purchased Live Free or Die Hard and it wouldn't play on my BDP-S300 player. I recently got the 3.80 firmware update and successfully loaded it onto my player but the disc still won't play.

I'm just wondering if anyone else who owns a Sony BDP-S300 and LFoDH on blu-ray has this problem. I simply cannot understand why it won't play.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Mike

My copy of Live Free.. plays fine on my BDP-S300 every time. Perhaps your disc is bad.

I had trouble with POTC: At Worlds End with my Sony-300. It played but jumped or shuttered slightly every few minutes. I just got the player a month ago and watched 7 Blue ray movies. This was the first one that didn't play well.

Default Thanks...

Hi everyone,

I really appreciate the input guys. I think I'm going to call the Best Buy customer service number and see if they can help me out at all. I spent $35 on the movie and there's no reason it shouldn't work.

I know where you're coming from. My Live Free disc just sits there and it keeps saying "loading." I'm just going to put it in the player tonight and see if it eventually comes on.

I guess every player is different because it took the normal 30 seconds or whatever for my No Country for Old Men to load up, yet you had problems with it.

Default For the most part I'm happy with my player

Yeah, the Sony 300 is a little slow loading and lacks features. But I don't feel it's inadequate or 2nd. rate. The first movie I rented, Apocalypto, I compared with, by going to my friends who has a PS 3 and a 46 in. Sony Bravia, I have an 46 in. Sony XBR. My player picture and sound quality did not take a back seat in any way to his. Also I bought my Sony 300 as a refurbished model directly from Sony for only $ 249. All in all I'm happy with that. Now if only if the Cable co. could do something with the signal on my High Def channels...

I have never had any problems with my S300. Played LFDH and POTC3 with no problems with current FW3.8.

I finally just called Best Buy and since it's been so long since I purchased the movie, they'll only give me a $20 gift certificate instead of letting me return it or exchange it.

I just really wish it worked because I thought the movie was awesome and would love to see it in high-def. Oh well.

Thanks for sharing your experiences. Maybe one day I'll get a copy that actually works.

Why not contact the disc manufacturer instead of Best Buy? Probably get better results. Many BD publishers offer replacement programs for faulty discs.

LFODH is made by Fox, and there's an e-mail address and a customer service phone number here:

I bought my S300 last year in August, and till this very day, I have NEVER updated my S300. I think its still on FW 1.-Something. And every movie i've played, including all 3 PIRATES, all 3 Spidey, 300, and all 4 Die Hard movies, all work perfectly fine. Never had trouble playing ANY movie (knock on wood).

I had no problems playing live free or die hard...When i first used my player it seemed as if movies was loading longer...But lately they have been going at normal pace it feels like...I got that new firmware disc from sony thru the mail...I dont think it did anything for speed tho but i dont know.
Only movie that even took a couple minutes to fully load for me was ratatouille..And even with that i love the player
