Sony BDP-S300 players hard to get? - Blu-ray Forum

I went to a local TV store which is well-known around here. It's one of the few "family owned" TV stores around which still turns a good profit in a world of BB's, Wal-Marts, etc.

They happen to be a Sony dealer, but had NO Sony BDP-S300's in stock. In fact, when I asked the guys standing there, two of them rolled up their eyes and pointed to one of the salesmen, who was apparently in charge of ordering them.

He said, "You're the 9th person to ask that, and no... we won't be getting more in until maybe next week."

I'm sure people who wanted them just went to BB. I believe they have them in stock.

So do you figure this guy just didn't order enough and has to wait for a truck next week, or that they're truly that difficult to get?

BR players have had a nice jump since the BB announcement. Many fence sitters were convinced by that, and the new $5-600 pricepoint brought a lot in

Expect deks to be in short supply until fall, when production catches up with demand

I bet if the Sony 300 is selling so well, the PS3's must be selling really fast.

When I purchased my S-300 a few weeks ago, my local Best Buy (Philadelphia) was wiped clean of ALL blu-ray players while there were stacks of HD DVD players on display.

I read that Costco has 'em at around $440 with a HDMI cable included in the box (BDP301)....
