Default Good News/Bad News at Blockbuster

I have the BB total access web rental deal. I return in store an online movie and always get a free rental. So now my BB finally got Blu-rays in store. My wife took back an online rental and attempted to get a new Blu-ray and was told that you couldn't use your return envelope one for a Blu-ray, only regular DVDs? Has anyone heard of this non-sense? Is that what they are doing? Is that really going to be their policy? Is so they suck and are pissing me off big time with this stuff. Forcing me to wait for months for online rentals, forcing me to have like 50 titles in my list, and now this? NOT customer service!

I'm sorry that you are having trouble at your local BB. I have been returning my movies in store for Blu-ray movies for 6 months now. I would bring it to thier attention that other BBs are exchanging them hassle free. Now if you could use your movies in exchange for game rentals I'll be happy.

Keep us informed. I would be pulling out my user agreement and asking them to show me where it says that.

I swapped for blu-ray discs at 3 different blu-ray stocked blockbusters in southern california. I would definitely ask why you were denied!

Most Blockbuster's are franchises and ARE free to set their own policies. But the kid at my local BB said that if they want to be a part of Total Access, they have to provide the service in full, which would include Blu-ray.

My advice: call BB customer service and ask them. If they say "yes", then ask them to put you on hold and call your local store to correct their policy. But be nice--it could just be that someone didn't get the memo... missing a cover sheet on that TPS Report.

They absolutely do not distinguish between DVD and BD, they are treated exactly the same. It's new so a lot of these people aren't up to speed. When I returned a TA BD to a newly Blu-ray enabled store the other day the dude wasn't sure if I could get a BD. I told him I could but he to had dink around on the computer for a couple of minutes before he figured it out.

Patience is a virture.

Yeah my wife wasn't in the mood to fight with the pre-pubescent zit faced punk working the register, so next time I will go in. I printed off the agreement from the website that makes no distinction. The only thing they could say is that it isn't a DVD it is a Blu-ray DVD. But if so I will say that can't just make up rules without having them in writing and I'll ask to speak to a manager and then have them call corporate if they don't cooperate.

Print out the faq from the site titled something like 'what kind of dvds do you have?' which lists/describes Blu-ray.

We have had no troubles with our store. They just started stocking them around July 4th. They have one copy of each movie at this point. So I exchanged all three of mine. Then we went back and got another. They gave us no problem at all, just verified that we actually had a blu-ray player.
--
One movie, "Letters from Iwo Jima", was defective and would not load. We took that back in and exchanged it for a regular dvd, since they only had the one copy.
--
I would definitely get them straight on this point. They should not have any distinction between regular dvds and blu-ray.

I'm pretty fortunate to live within 3 miles of a Blockbuster that got these in last week and rents them for $2.99 for 7 days. I didn't count the titles on the first day, but based on a picture I took and how deep they were on each row I estimate that they had about 150 titles. When I went in on Friday I counted and they had 129 on the shelves. On Sunday I counted and got 101.

Also, I've been able to exchange my online envelopes.

I've had no problem trading for BD's, Especially if I trade a BD from online I should be able to get a BD from the store. My store has always had BD's/HD-DVD's so that's why it's not an issue.

I am new to Blockbuster Total Access and with my first delivery of Blu-Ray rentals I was able to exchange at my local Blockbuster with ease. I was required to have my credit card on file at my local Bluckbuster to rent Blu-Ray discs though even with my online subscription, otherwise I had no problems and left the store with in a few minutes.

Another thing to consider is that the store doesn't know what you are returning. You may be returning bluray, I don't think they would know. But anyway, I hope that you get it straightened out, so that you can exchange. I have done so many times now. Even picked up bluray with coupons from my online acct.
