I see a few of these Star Trek flicks going for $7.99 at Bestbuy on BF
I've also read some warnings about different versions or whatever...can someone fill me in? Are these substandard transfers or do I want the complete set or ? Kinda confused here : ) |

I was wondering the same thing--did a little research, but couldn't find much. I'd like to get both Khan and Voyage Home, but not if they're crappy versions.

Read the review of the boxset here on Blu-ray.com, it covers the individual films and these are the exact same versions.
You can read the reviews here: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Star-...y-Review/4190/ |

The complaints were all about the excessive use of DNR, especially on III. However, as the review states they all are huge improvements over the DVDs. For what's it's worth I was very happy with the set. Just re-watched VI the other night and I was impressed with it again.
There was also a (stupid) controversy with some people claiming that only II had been remastered and all the others were just upconverted, due to some vague wording on the set. Dumb, and untrue. |

One issue that some people have is that all the Trek films released were the Theatrical Editions of the films. For a few of the films, there have been different edits on subsequent home video releases (Star Trek II has had a couple scenes re-inserted, Star Trek VI has had an additional scene + different camera angles, and Star Trek The Motion Picture had the Director's Edition with new and redone effects sequences). The versions with this additional material are not what are on these BDs, but they don't amount to much substance. Paramount will undoubtedly re-release the films at some point, but for now these are the best available.

For $7.99, you can't lose. I'd just like to get the first one and the fifth to complete the set at this price.
