I love the movie but I haven't seen this cut yet. I'm planning to buy the BD seeing as it's only 8 bucks and all... but is it any good?

How different is it from the theatrical cut?

Im happy with the original cut as it is. I was not gonna let this awesome deal pass me by.

i assume you are referring tot he picture quality and audio quality. both are tremendous. with a film such as this, when audiovisual qualities are already so good, you often forget that u r in a HT, you are transported back into the story itself, which is what the best mediums do! =).

This is a great deal beacuse you get BOTH the "theatrical" and the so-called family freindly less violent "recut" version Mel Gibson double dip that he released in theaters a year later that did'nt do that well, as well a standard DVD loaded w/ special features.

A great buy for 8.99 IMO.

It's a good deal. I think it has both the theatrical cut and the recut versions of the movie (one having supposedly less violence than the other; the differences are minimal IMO). It has gorgeous PQ and AQ, and many extras. If there's any problem (if one was to call it a problem at all), it's the fact that the extra features disc is a standard-def DVD, the same as from the 2-disc DVD.

I must be the only one aside from the reviewer at dvdtalk that thought the PQ on this release was WAY too hot. Skin-tones were very, very pink in nearly every shot. My DVD of the film doesn't look this way, nor does any other blu-ray I own. And I know it isn't just my copy because I see evidence of this even in the caps I I've seen posted of the blu-ray. I guess I'm seeing something that's not there. :

: But it bugs the heck out of me.

Wow, you must be living under a rock because its even right in front of you whenever you go to a forum or anywhere else within Blu-ray.com's website. At the top "Most Popular Blu-ray Deals at Amazon" you can see all discounted Blu's including "Passion of the Christ" displaying $8.99 right under the cover.
