I know this must get old for some of you pros but please indulge me....
Room is 20X22 with sloping 10 ft to 15 ft ceiling from right to left facing two recessed built in bookshelves on either side of a 5' fireplace. The front of the shelves are 2 ft back from the front of the fireplace on both sides and about 4 ft wide by 10 ft tall. Receiver is the Pioneer VSX-915 which is 110 watts per channel and I have a PV700 Boston Acoustics 200 W 12" subwoofer. I'm not looking for much more than background music for the area but appreciate good sound nonetheless. I've looked at several threads and received some good advice that I should try for a front port speaker. Energy, NHT, KEF, Axiom and Tweak City's WAF-1 have all come up. I can use one of the shelves or the top of shelf for speaker placement. I can spend $300 to $500 for a pair but prefer the bottom range. Please let me know your thoughts. |

I'm sure someone pointed those out to you.
http://www.audioadvisor.com/prodinfo.asp?number=ENC300 Look this is hell of a deal since it's discontinued yes front ported is nice as you usually need less clearance from the wall but this C-300 at 129$ each is hell of a deal this is like 60% off the original price and they were a good bang for the buck already. This even falls below your lower budget and I really think you won't be disapointed. I have their little cousins the C-500 and I can tell you they are very warm, laid back easy to listen speakers. Highs are smooth and not tiring. Mid are great and they're pretty well balance across the whole range of frequencies. I find them to be a very good speaker for music. Kef ar defenately brighter sounding but hey as many of us will tell ya you need to go out there and find out what you like most. I really like Axiom speaker but in the 500$ there is not much honestly besides bookshelves M3 v2 which are excellent sounding and warm as well for 350$. http://www.axiomaudio.com/m3.html There are great choices in the list other than energy but not sure what kind of deals you can get on em. Thanks Big Al but I'm not sure they will work on my bookshelf.
However they look like a great deal for the TV room I'm working on. What do you think about using them as a right and left for either a 5.1 or 7.1 system? Still looking for ideas on my family room. |

![]() Well I just realized that but could the axioms be a good choice for ya? Truly amzing speakers Quote:
http://www.audioadvisor.com/prodinfo...umber=ATLSC100 and this http://www.audioadvisor.com/prodinfo.asp?number=ATLS300 Athena use to be a sister company of Energy formerly owned by API but disapeared not too long ago after buy out by Klipsch. Those speaker are the closest thing to the C-300 and for 300$ you get a matching center for HT setup. Last edited by BigAl87; 12-02-2009 at 02:25 AM. |
