Don't get all hot and bothered about this -- I own both players -- but I'm just curious if there is a compelling reason for keeping my PS3 in my theater room versus swapping it for the LG 270 for playing DVDs only (don't get sidetracked into the many other advantages the PS3 has -- indeed, one of the reasons I might want to move it is to take advantage of those things in another room I spend a lot more time in).
I'm wondering about two issues -- picture quality and sound quality. Is there really a difference in players nowadays in terms of either? The LG appears to decode all the major sound codex, so I can't see I'd miss out there. I do play some regular DVDs on the theater system, so upscaling is a bit of an issue, but my projector system is only 720 and the HDTV I'd move the PS3 to is a brand new LED, so any real advantage would go to moving it. If I don't move the PS3 all the gaming possibilities will go to waste (since I do NOT in any way play games in the theater room, whereas where I'd move the PS3 already has a PS2 there that I use quite a bit). |
