Default Making a controller one console specific?

Guys, I have two ps3s in the house, the family one (80gig fatty) and one I bought for myself recently (slim). Our house is relatively small and the problem is whenever someone powers up the 80 gigger, mine activates as well.

This morning the family was watching a bluray in the living room, and I was about the house, cleaning and moving things. The movie ended, and after wrapping up helping a bit in the kitchen, I went to my room for a minute and noticed my ps3 was on. It was no doubt turned on when my family started their movie, and fortunately Up isn't very long, so it wasn't left on for long. But still, I turned on my tv and I got the Press-Start title screen for RE5.

Anyway, our setup is pretty small, so is there a way to have one controller work only on one ps3, or something that would stop this from happening? I'm nervous that one night they'll watch a movie, I'll be out of the house, and my ps3 will be on for hours and hours on end.

so could you be in the middle of a game and they go to switch thier PS3 off but they also switch your PS3 off too? now that would be the worst case scenario. i wouldnt worry about your PS3 being on for a long time i know people who leave their PS3 on all the time

Never heard of something like this, though I never thought of something happening like that.

Did you test to make sure one controller is controlling both PS3's because I don't think they're designed to be capable of pairing with more than one at a time. There may be another cause.

I think pressing the reset button (top right above rear label) with a paperclip resets pairing, then you use a USB cable to pair with a PS3 again.

yeah, we have 2 ps3's that are pretty close to each other, and ive moved mine into the room with the other to play rock band and accidentally taken one of the other controllers back with me and i hit the PS button and it only turns on the one in the other room, id say something else is turning on your PS3, but i wouldnt worry about it being on, i rarely turn mine off because i turn on folding@home when im not using it

controllers are paired with a PS3 system and can only be paired with 1 at a time. I have 2 PS3's as well, always get mixed up which controller works with which system.

If your controller is in fact working on both, then something is wrong. Maybe you're accidentally hitting any button on the BD Remote control (if you have one)? I used to mysteriously turn my system on accidentally by doing that until I figured out any button on that damn remote will turn on my PS3.
