Default Calibrating the V10

I'm about to get my v10 in next week, and I'm going to do the break-in slides and after that I need to get it calibrated.

Now which is a better way, to have a professional do it, or do it myself with a dvd? Is there a huge difference in between the two?

Congrats on the V10! What size are you getting? I've had mine about six weeks and love it. I've been satisfied with just the DIY "calibration" with a disc, but I'm wondering the same thing you are. The user menu on the V10 gives you much more control than previous panny plasmas, so you can come closer to fine-tuning it.

If you decide to get it calibrated, please let me know if it's worth it. Enjoy your new display!

58 incher. I've been looking around and I found this thread on specific v10 calibrations,

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...=#post17385874

The majority seem to like C01 calibrations which can be found on pg 14 of this thread (there may be minor tweaks, but his overall calibration many people like)

Something I'm gonna try out, if you do too, let me know the results.

Thumbs up Calibration

The DVE calibration disc ( or any other ) should do just fine. A professional calibration is a bit better ( done by a PROFESSIONAL, not by Best Buy ) but may be cost prohibitive.

first use a calibration disc, as mentioned DVE is very good but can be a little difficult to understand. Another option is the Spears & Munsil disc.

Ive been using DVE since the dvd version so I was a bit accustomed to its functionality. If you are interested in knowing a lot about the different aspects of HDTV, then the DVE disc would be great. If you just want to get the settings correct and be on with your day, the spears and munsil would probably be the better choice. (its also very educational, but easier to follow)

I would not pay for a professional calibration until your TV has had to some to wear in. I would even say wait a few months...but thats my opinion.

many people have stated that proffessional calibration provides a noticable and worthwhile upgrade in PQ, even on TVs that have been personally calibrated. You may think that you have the PQ the best itll get, but there is still probably room for more improvement.
As crackinhedz stated, you should wait at least 3 months prior to having a professional calibrate your TV
