Default Advice for bedroom surround sound system?

Folks,

I went ahead and bought a Samsung 55" LED for my bedroom (12'x17') where we'll be watching mostly TiVO HD streamed but some blu movies from a PS3 (our theater room is a 9' HD projection system with massive 2000 watt sound that can literally shake the windows).

So now I'm thinking that I need better sound than the 20 watts this Sammy puts out, yet I'm not really anxious to spend a lot given that most of our quality movie watching is in another venue. The one thing I know I'll miss is the ground moving bass of our theater room -- twin 500 watt subs that you really feel -- but my wife is not going to put up with large speakers in the bedroom and I don't really want them either.

So -- any recommendations? Bose supposedly has a good reputation for quality sound in a small package, but the price is rather high for merely bumping up what will mostly be network shows and sports. Still, I'll take any advice my learned friends here can provide.
