Unhappy The Official FOX we Miss you Thread!

So watching ICE AGE 2 tonight with my 6yr old son. I really enjoyed it. Then thought to myself, man I really miss FOX. They have a great library and almost every title I have from FOX on DVD I am willing to re-buy on BD, and Many more!!! And I have about 50 fox DVD's as of now (about 7 BD's from them).

This is a place to post a message to Fox...that hey, we miss you guys!

Hurry up and come back home soon!

They're up there in importance. They've had fantastic past releases, and some new good ones such as Live Free or Die Hard. However without fox we're still outselling hd dvd each week, I'm sure if fox came back, SOON, I bet we could see a 70/30 or even....80/20 though highly doubtful it will be 80/20. The biggest thing they could do is Star Wars, but freaking Lucas not releasing till theres a clear winner is not cool.

Every BD-supporting studio is important. But right now Fox is important because a) it is a BD-exclusive studio and b) there are no Fox releases. Because of that, they are very very important. Hopefully they can sign off on BD+ and get back in the game.

dear fox,
it has been so long since I have heard from you. I didn't know anything was wrong between us. xmen 3, night at the museum, fantastic four, they were all great, we were great. then you decided we needed to ''take a break'' I know you're not seeing any other formats because they're fat and ugly, but what happened to us? i've been going to the gym and have gotten even stonger since we ''took a break''. what else can I do? I sit here on the floor with a bottle of scotch and your few movies, and I cry. we could be so good together if you would let us be. please come back to me my love. please.

As did I. They need to show me consistent quality on par with Sony and Disney before they contend for the #1 or #2 spot.

I'm very happy with my Fox releases, and also would like to see many more. I have Transporter and Night at the Museum, and it really seems like they tried to maximize both picture and audio for these releases. Very impressed, and really hope to see more soon!

I wish FOX would return. They have some great movies and TV shows, plus they distribute for some of MGM titles like Stargate Atlantis.

I gave them a provisional #3. Sony and Disney are by far ahead of them. And frankly Lionsgate is close and perhaps should be put ahead just because of the size versus effort.

And, if Paramount starts releasing with LPCM, then Fox is on its way to #4. Because the Paramount video encodings are definitely in Sony/Disney territory.

It's exciting titles and spectacular quality that I would be looking for from Fox. QUANTITY isn't as important as quality.

I'm not saying based on what they've done so far, I am basing this on the potential of their catalog. IMO Fox has better movies available on tap than any of the other BD studios. Yes BV & SP have done better so far, with what they have...but IMO FOX/MGM has the Vast majority of flicks I want (along with Newline once they get rollin).

I see what you're saying. But, your question was "Rate Fox in importance to the BD format". I looked at it from a current point of view. But, it is not that much different if you look at it generally.

Disney is the most important studio for any format anyone wants to launch. SPHE has been involved with the encoders.

Fox back in a big way could make it #2. But, I think Disney is always going to be #1. When the post-mortum of HD DVD is done, it will be the lack of Disney support that people will declare was the format's downfall.

Fox is very important politically (e.g. in the format war) because of how their absence looks.

Also, while I respect their desire to have stronger DRM, I think it sheds a poor light on themselves that in the interm they are making honest customers suffer (when we are literally clamoring to pay them for their product) out of fear of other customers downloading a 30+gb movies over the internet.

I read the part about ranking Fox in terms of importance to the format, and I voted them #1. My first thought was to place them as #3 behind Disney and Sony as did many other people, but IMO Fox can/will be a key player in ending this whole format war thing sooner rather than later.

When I think of Fox, I think of the movie, "Braveheart."

Remember when Mel Gibson's fighters were on the verge of winning, but they needed help from their waiting friends the most, but their army just smiled, turned around, and left?

That's how I feel about Fox in regards to the Blu-ray/HD-DUD battle.
