Default Harmony One (sorry for the new thread) Question

Hi folks-

Sorry for the new thread, but it's Christmas shopping season and I need to know whether to buy this remote!

I already own an older Harmony 550. And while it's "fine," the slow response between button push and component response has always frustrated me.

Do the owners of the Harmony One notice this or are you happy with the response time? IE, is it comparable to the original remote that accompanies the device?

Thank you!

I have two Harmony 550s and 1 Harmony 1. I find the delay to be caused by the device that is being comanded. I have Sat TV and find that the box responds slowly. My other devices seem to respond as soon as I hit the command. Have you tried updating the firmware on the remote or even just changing the batteries? Sometimes this can be an issue.

The less charged the battery, the slower response in my experience with the two Harmony remotes I've owned.

Also, Sat/Cable boxes are horrible delayed. I reset my DirecTV box weekly. For soe reason that seems to help with the lag time.

Not sure if that is what you wanted to hear, but it is my story and I'm sticking to it.

...you can adjust the response time for each device in the harmony remote settings.

You probably have it on default, but you might be able to tinker with it to respond faster to your liking.

Keep in mind though, there should be a proper delay as to give your devices time to receive the correct ir codes. Making the response time "too fast" will have a negative effect as well. You sort of have to experiment.

I have the Harmony 550, 880, 890, 1000, and One and my favorite is definitely the One. I love the touchscreen and the design. If you buy it on Amazon you get a free PS3 adapter as well, which you could probably sell for at least $30 for if you don't need it. I haven't had any problems with response time with any of my devices (cable box, TV, DVD player, Blu-ray player).

My only minor complaint is the battery life. I have had the One for a year and a half and the battery life has definitely gotten worse. I used to need to charge it about every 5 days, now it's about every other day. This isn't difficult, just need to throw it on the charger, but it's a pain if I forget. For comparison my 880 can go about 10 days between charges.

I just replaced my battery in my One. I ordered it directly from Logitech. I did not trust the third party and plus I could not find one without a charger.

Lou, have you ever changed the DVR to native off? I found this to help my situation with lag, as the screen display would not try to change when I changed channels/inputs.....

I loved my Harmony one while I had it. I had it sitting on my ottoman while I got up to do something and one of my dogs scrambled across and knocked it onto the floor. It only fell a couple of feet but it landed just hard enough to shatter the LCD screen and make it unusable

I think I've tinkered with the delay times for almost everything in my system with my Harmony One (as crackinhedz suggested) and it helped quite a bit. I also was using a 550 until I got the One. I don't think the OP's issue is caused by the remote itself, but rather the delays. However, the One is still a heck of an improvement and I highly recommend making the move.

Where is this setting? I'd be interested in testing it out.

Whatever the newest HD-DVR model they have. I've had it less than a year.
