Default Quick question about the Harmony 880...

I don't know much about Harmony remotes but I'm looking into getting this one. Want one that's black and not too expensive and this came up.

What I want to know is, can the 880 turn on my TV, receiver, etc. without aiming the remote at the actual device? Because right now I'm using my Digital Cable remote for everything and it's annoying that I have to point at every device to turn them on.

You donot have to point it right at anything since it sends a wide field. But you donot need to have it in the general direction. But it also sends from the bottom of the remote becasue of the way the ir is designed.

With IR remotes your always going to have to point (at least in the general direction). The only way around this is bluetooth or RF remotes. But your devices have to have that reciever. Like the PS3 with bluetooth. My dishnetwork satellite reciever had RF which was also nice.
There is also the option of getting a IR to RF converter. I'm not sure how effective those are with multiple devices though.

Alright, thanks for the replies. Looks like I'll be getting one. As long as I don't have to point it right at it and just in the general direction (which is what I'm getting from your posts).
