Default Trailers on Blu-ray movies WHAT'S UP WITH THIS??

I got my copies of Godzilla (1998) & Mask Of Zorro this week. These are two movies where I love the trailers just as much as the movies. I am noticing that a lot of films are coming out on Blu Ray now and they only have trailers for OTHER titles, but not for the presented film??? What's up with that. There's not enough room on these discs to put the original theatrical teasers and trailers on here? Ok I vote that we skip the ignorant documentaries about how wonderful everybody was to work with, because we've seen it enough, and get back to the basics. If I can just have my movie looking the best it possibly can in its original aspect ratio, along with their original trailers, that is enough bonus features for me. I am really bummed that some of my favorite movie trailers aren't making it onto these Blu Rays. Columbia seems to be most guilty of this.

I feel the same, and then, some of them which do include trailers are not even on HD... shame

There can be clearance issues with theatrical trailers. Especially if these trailers use music from other films. Ex. Pearl Harbor includes the trailers on DVD and BD but the music was replaced.

What about when the old dvd release has the trailer, but not the blu ray ??? Theres no music issue on that case, its just pure laziness. Also, it doesnt happen often, but I love it when for a blu ray release, they remaster the trailer and teaser in HD quality. One blu ray that does this is the monster squad !!!

It's the difference between advertising a movie and making it an extra on the disc itself. So trailers for other movies are fine, but for trailers for the same movie, wages have to be paid for the actors in it. That's pretty expensive, so some companies just leave it off the disc instead of paying that money again.

if the old dvd release had a trailer with music in it, they may only have obtained licensing for the music for the dvd release, and didn't negotiate in time to license its use on the bd release

Trailers are usually just ads for the films of the studio's specialty on Blu-Ray. WB advertises a lot on BD-Live functionality. Actually, when I watched Terminator last night, I was jaw-dropped when they showed the clip from the Matrix as the glass is breaking, which actually makes me want to purchase the Blu.

A man after my own heart. One of the first things I looked for when I purchased Godzilla was the trailers. The same can be said of many movies that I own. I wish studios would continue to put a their marketing campaigns on the the discs.

I remember Godzilla having one of the coolest trailers I'd ever seen when it came out...with Godzilla looking so massive coming out of the water.

I was just thrilled that after years of legal issues, Star Trek Generations finally was able to include it's teaser (and trailer) on the Blu-ray.

I completely agree that the films original trailers should be included on the blurays.

However in the ads prior to the disc menu they continue to put ads selling bluray on blu ray discs!! This makes no sense to me since theyre selling bluray to somebody already watching bluray!!!

Putting those ads on regular dvds doesn't make sense either, they can't be in HD so the people can't see the difference on those discs .

This is hardly a new practice. Lionsgate, Disney, Sony open pretty much all of thier Blu ray's with trailers. And have been pretty much all along.

THANK YOU OP!!!

I HATE it when BR's DON'T include the trailer of the movie you're watching! This is happening A LOT!!! It's REALLY irritating! (can you feel my frustration???)

Isn't this supposed to be a STANDARD feature already? Most of the movies that I've bought/liked all started from their Theatrical Trailer.

"The Girlfriend Experience", "Across the Universe" etc don't have their OWN trailer on their BR disc and sometimes I would buy another movie that I like and hope that a previous movie that I own has a trailer on their BR features!

Well ia m really glad I am not the ony one that thinks this. I mean I love movie trailers and it was part of what got me excited enough to see a movie to begin with. Or BUY it! I mean I love the fact they put other trailers from other movies because it does help me shop around. But for crimeny sakes, I want to see the trailers, one f not all of the ones released to advertise the film.

Thanks for the support peops!

Pearl Harbour's trailer music was written by Stev Jablonsky and was not written for a film. It's production music that they would have to pay more to put on the dvd/blu ray. A good example of tracks bieng changed is the theatrical trailer replaces a song by immediate music on the blu and dvd to a song quickly put together with a snythesizer (that clearly is mimicing the original track).
