experiences with Amazon UK shipping - Blu-ray Forum

I live near Indianapolis and I placed my first ever order with AmazonUK on March 5 (ordered blu-rays of Sunrise, City Girl, Black Shield of Falworth, and Withnail and I). I received an e-mail stating it was dispatched on March 8. I then placed another order (this time blu-rays of Black Narcissus and Great Expectations) on March 12 and received an e-mail stating it had been dispatched on March 15. Being that these are international deliveries, I expected to be waiting awhile for their arrivals. Well, much to my surprise, my SECOND order, the one from March 12, arrived yesterday on March 18, only three days after being dispatched and shipped internationally! Yet my FIRST order, now two weeks old, still hasn't arrived and has me a little nervous given that it cost me $75. Anyone ever experienced a shipping situation like this from amazon UK? Is this normal?

It is definitely "normal". DHL and Royal Mail are both handling portions of Amazon.UK's orders so delivery times fluctuate somewhat.

It also depends where it was sent from. Stuff from Amazon Jersey/Indigo Starfish takes a lot longer to get to me, but that's kinda obvious! I'm not sure if it would effect international orders so much. There's a depot about 10 minutes from my house, and while it still has to go through the postal system, I've had stuff through really fast before. I ordered a game, with free super saver delivery at 5pm on a friday, and it arrived the next morning.

Deliveries can really be hit-and-miss when it comes to international orders. A few months ago I used Amazon.com (USA to UK) and ordered 2 BD's a week apart - yet they arrived on the same day.

Agreed. I have had orders from Amazon.com to the UK take as little as 1 week and as many as 6 weeks. However, in the event it doesn't arrive for any reason, their customer service at Amazon is absolutely tip top.

I live in Denmark and often order stuff from Amazon.co.uk. My experience is that delivery times vary greatly, from a little less than a week, to just under a month. Most deliveries arrive within 10 days, with the ones from Amazon associates in the US taking about two weeks, well within what I find reasonable.
