Question amazon.ca shipping

question, im looking at an item now and i know it was been released already but it says "will ship in 1-2 months" and its the cheapest ive found it so far.

so my question is...

will it really take that long?

In my experience their shipping estimates are a reliable approximation. They seem not to have as much in stock as the other Amazons. Many common items have long estimated shipping times.

Yup they're in Canada so taxes as normal apply. I've been often surprised at annonced delays for that long being filled quite faster also, but it could be that long. Good if not excellent service though. I use them a lot more lately since they always seem to have the best price and on some items sometimes the same price as their american counterpart.

I'm guessing it'll likely be more of an issue of when their stock for that item will be replenished. It could be tomorrow, next week, or next month, it's hard to say. But if they give you an estimate of 1-2 months, well, I'd be inclined to believe it. Don't worry though, you'll get it(eventually) and if there's any issues they'll likely send you an email. Plus, if anything goes wrong, they're very pleasant to deal with. At least in my case.

I placed an order today and it said that I should expect delivery next week, but I'm confident I'll get it Thursday or Friday. The longest shipping I've ever had from Amazon.ca was three days. And all qualified for free super saving shipping, so I've been very impressed.

Steve's post gives you the best example to answer you were looking for, but here's another:

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Qty Item Price Shipped Subtotal
---------------------------------------------------------------------

1 The Searchers [Blu-ray] CDN$ 17.99 1 CDN$ 17.99

1 2001: A Space Odyssey [Blu-ray] CDN$ 21.95 1 CDN$ 21.95

Sold by Amazon.ca, Inc - taxed
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Item Subtotal: CDN$ 39.94
Shipping and handling: CDN$ 0.00

Total Tax: CDN$ 5.20
GST: CDN$ 2.00
PST: CDN$ 3.20
Total: CDN$ 45.14

Paid by Visa: CDN$ 45.14
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Super Saving Shipping by only 94cents! Items have already shipped as of 6:00PM, only four hours after I ordered. I expect the package on Thursday, but of course that means I'm only a couple of hours from their shipping location.

no.

That's the extreme scenario. It should be sent before that

As others have said, Amazon is a real pleasure to deal with. They have great customer service.

Shipping on in-stock items is lightning fast, do not waste money on choosing a faster shipping method than the free shipping. If I order from Amazon one day, I have it on my desk in my office within 2 days, usually the next morning!

If it says 1-2 months, as mentioned, that is usually worst case scenario. About 90% of the time I've ordered something other than "in-stock" it's been shipped well ahead of their estimate.

your subtotal came to below $40. how did you get supersaver shipping? i thought you could only get it on orders placed above the $40 total. am i wrong? can you order one film for $20 and still get it shipped to you for free?

It's not below $40, it's above 39 so he did have the minimum to get free shipping. Under $39 you have shipping fees.

Like Pentatonic said, it's $39, so I just squeaked by. Amazon.com's free shipping is even less isn't it?

And for those curious, the 60% sale at Amazon.ca on catalog Blu's is over. I bought The Searchers yesterday for 17.99, today it's up over $21 again. Some stayed the same price though, such as the Transporter movies and a few others.
