Default Why couldn't all BDS have slim casing?

I recently got in a 4 pack of films that had the slim line casings rather than the big regular cases.. i was annoyed as it wouldnt "fit in" with the rest of my collection... however I got to thinking, why couldnt the studios have done these for ALL releases? It would be more enviornment friendly, take up less room (they could ship more in a box) + I am sure there are even more pros.

The cases are still big enough that if I had them on my shelf I could read the title. Obviously now I am too far in to want the studios to switch but I do think it is AWFUL how much plastic is wasted yearly on BD casses (and ever more so with DVDs as they are even bigger!

Just sharing a thought

While space is an issue even for someone like me, I don't think putting them all in slim cases is a good idea. Harder to read the spines, especially from a distance and also slim cases don't protect as much.

Dunno but I want them uniform so what they started with is what they should stick to.

I would rather they look uniform but diversity is the spice of life someone wise once said.

It's a problem for people who import as well, all of our cases are the thick ones.. so when we import from the u.s. the slim cases look odd.

My OCD cries out for uniformity. Do you have any idea how much it was wrecked by the Incredible Hulk having a green case?!

Surprised nobody else has tried any other colors (I guess red is too HD-DVDish and black is too DVD-ish).

But yeah, I mean, they can do what they want, honestly, but I like the current cases. Hence why I don't do Steelbooks and some Digibooks (Matrix had to be exempted).

The companies who make all the blu-ray cases should all get together and start mixing up cases. They can make a killing off those who need to have conformity on their shelves along with those who toss out the eco-cases and purchase new ones.

Death to the slim case. They are worse than the old WB snap-cases.

Agreed. Of all the weird formats DVD/BD have been released in over the years the slim cases are probably my least favorite one

I, for one, like the slim cases. It saves on shelf space.

Because if they did... a weird time/space distortion would open over Norway... and destroy us all...

I like the slim cases. I could fit a lot more BD's on my shelf instead of having to use multiple shelfs.
