I've done my countless hours of research and I believe that I've come to my conclusion of what TV i'm going to purchase, but I figure it's always best to check here to be 100% certain i'm getting exactly what I think i'm getting (or is that understand what i'm getting? Anywho...).
I want a Plasma over 60 inches that does 24p properly. It seems as if the two best options are either Samsung or Panasonic. The best bang for the buck tv that I've found is the PN63B590, which does 24p properly @ 96hz. Are there any other Plasmas over 60 inches (besides the TC-P65V10, which is over 1k more than the tv i've listed) that do 24p properly? Once again, as always, thanks for you help ![]() |

'Properly' is a relative term. The G10/15 models display 24p source material properly, in that they refresh the screen in a multiple of 24. People b1tch about 'flicker' at their 48Hz, but it looks exactly like what you see in a real theater...and isn't that what everyone is trying to achieve?
Besides, before you spend your hard-earned money on a Samsung plasma, maybe you should do a little research. Try searching on terms like 'Samsung Buzz' and 'Samsung Customer Service'. Last edited by xneox; 12-08-2009 at 12:40 AM. |

#1 Great decision to switch from LCD to Plasma
#2 DO NOT BUY SAMSUNG I've owned both a Samsung and Panasonic Plasma , Samsung plasma's have the loudest buzzing sound i have ever heard. Stick with the Panasonic (which i am using now) |

I agree. And the new Samsung B8500 is having display issues. (People are calling it crop circles believe it or not) I was able to get the Pioneer Pro 151 (60" Elite) for 3900.00 bucks. You can get the 141 (60" Elite monitor for about the same) It's a steal at that price. here is a link the the "crop circles issues.. Crop circles link |

Hmmmm I've never had this problem and I own two Samsung plasmas which I've had for over a year now. I haven't had any problems and the picture is amazing on both. Maybe I bought the good models???

My Dad owns a Samsung plasma, the pic is gorgeous and after 1 1/2 yr there is no buzz, but I hear stories across the board about how bad the CS is with that company.
I'm seeing a lot of 60" Open box or Display Kuros at the Best Buy near me going for $2995. They had 3 yesterday, today one was gone. I just boght my 50" off the Sams Club Auction for $1500 including taxes and shipping if you were looking to get a smaller size. Last edited by davidxiphoid; 12-09-2009 at 07:05 PM. |

![]() My Samsung Plasma makes a buzzing sound A buzzing sound from your plasma TV is normal. It is caused by the electrical charges used to create the images on the screen. The buzzing, however, should not be so loud that you can hear it when the volume on the TV is set at normal levels. It is also important to determine the type of buzzing sound. A sound like a ground hum is completely normal. This buzzing can originate near the power cord connection or from the SMPS board position on the upper back of the TV. The buzz will be more audible as contrast increases on the screen, most notably when displaying an all white screen. If the buzzing sound is loud, you may have the Contrast set too high. Lower the contrast to reduce or eliminate the buzzing. You may also have loud buzzing if the rear of your Plasma TV is too close to a wall or other hard surface. Try moving your TV away from the wall until the buzzing is minimized. [1] If the buzzing is at a higher frequency and resembles a crackling sound (like the sound of Velcro being pulled apart), and originates from the upper middle back of the TV, you likely have a failing SMPS board. Place a support call with Samsung to have the SMPS board replaced. http://samsungplasmatvfaq.com/index...._buzzing_sound And trust me it's not a contrast issue, its a Samsung has a loud buz issue. My Samsung Plasma(which i sold off) was not a low end model,it most me $2400 Last edited by perfectdark; 12-09-2009 at 06:35 PM. |

Panny V10 without question.
if the 65" is a lil pricey. why not try the 58"...i know its under your "looking for more than a 60"+ plasma. but the V10 is such a solid TV and totally worth it. and flicker is not something anyone wants and should not be what is displayed. |

I did have a Panasonic X14 from Sams that I eventually returned that had a pretty loud buzzing sound when bright images were on screen. It's more a technology issue. Certain companies seem better at controling it than others.
