I don't know about the price, but this looks really interesting:
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=8142 Otherwise the Sony LCDs always get great reviews. They go up to 70inch soon! |

I have a 50" plasma screen and it looks great when playing DVD's, BD's and HD-DVD's. I however still have a collection of over 1000 Laserdiscs and they look horrible on the Plasma screen. Does anyone have similar experiences ? The LD's still look great on the normal CRT tv in the bedroom. I have seen some spectacular LCD tv's so I think I would go for LCD now....

![]() Plasma screens are supposed to have a better contrast and deeper blacks. I have a decent Toshiba LCD but the blacks look really washed out. My Tosh is a mid-range 37". The Sharp Aquos range which is currently in the marketplace is a pretty nice mid-range too with sizes up to 46". But Sony wins hands down with their Bravia range. They do have a few different models in their range but Sony tend to be a fair bit more expensive than their competitors but tend to be worth it. $4000 AUS should translate into a pretty nice set ~ £1700 GBP. For that you should be able to pick up a good 42" Sony but someone else will have to help you as to which range will better suit your needs. SFK |

Yea, i sort of lean towards sony or Pioneer, but can be a little more expensive. Having said that though, i am still willing to go the little extra if i can nab an all round suited deal. A 42 inch would be big enough. I will also check out the sony range. Sony Bravia sounds interesting ![]() ![]() |

After a little research, i am leaning towards the Sony Bravia KDL40X2000. I have had a price of $3999.00, so not bad considering the retail price in Australia is $4599.00.

May not matter to you, but Samsung Plasmas have rave reviews here in the US.
I agree. We picked one up (42") and the picture is just amazing. Especially compared to all the plasmas it was next too at the store. Clarity is unreal and the blacks are BLACK! |

I'll still check the samsungs out, and see what they have to offer. The models might be a little different over here, so who knows what could be available. It pays to look around, rarther than miss something and regret it later.Regards Grassy

The guy who posted above me with the Pro-FHD1 probably has the coolest TV (monitor) on the planet right now. I've been selling TVs for ten years, and have never seen a picture like it. Wish I could afford one. Wait till you see the 1080p 60" they have coming this fall. Sweet as hell.

65,000 hours to half brightness. Even if you watched for 8 hours a day, you would't notice any difference for at least fifteen years. Not that anyone keeps TVs for fifteen years anymore. |

I have a 40 inch sony bravia XBR LCD http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1152227795761. Works great in a small veiwing room and the picture just pops. If you have the space I'd go with a plasma but as you may know plasma tvs only range at about 48-50 inches and up. I don't have a big enough room to support 50+ inches so I went with the 40. If you go this route just check the specs on what your buying...not all of the smaller tv's (40 and under) support 1080. So if your trying to get the best possible quality look out for that.

that might be true but shouldent they test it more like how long dose it take the tv to get noticeable less brighter then first bought? but half brightness is a big change lol

yeah and who states that? the manufacturers website right? Work in the business, watch them in the stores for 6-8 months for the 12-14 hours a day they are on, and see how they look when we go to sell them open box. Then we put the new model out and compare...it's like night and day. Then 6-8 months again, you are wowed again at how bright it is, how deep the blacks are, but in a few short months they fade. We don't leave our plasma's on VIVID or Dynamic, We set them to standard generally. I lived the experience, I see it at work daily...All the promises of "Pixel orbiting" that reduces burn in (NOT) the 65k til half life...I aint buying it. Plasma was a good compromise til LCD could get up to speed, but Like sony...I aint investing any more into it. Last edited by BTBuck1; 04-30-2007 at 05:08 AM. |
