Default Columbia House Blu-ray survey

FYI, just received an email to take a CH survey. The survey was about Blu-ray and ended with a question about whether or not I'd be interested in joining a Blu-ray video club, if they offered one. I said yes, but, of course, that all depends on what it has to offer.

I've grown more and more dissatisfied with CH over the past couple of years, but, considering they are going to start allowing members to use Funcash (now "Bonus Points") to buy Blu-rays, maybe things are getting better.

I hadn't heard Columbia House is going to let you use "Bonus Points" on Blu-ray, that's great news, although I would have been happier if they did it last year when I had about $60 that expired. I have stayed a member with Columbia House just because it's so easy to decline the Director's Selection, and they've had some decent sales on Blu-rays with BOGOs, B2G1, and 3 for $60 were you also got 3 DVDs free, which I then sold making the cost for the 3 Blus about $40.

According to info I found on the website, they will allow you to use "Bonus Points" to purchase BDs starting in February.

BTW, I used my sixty-some Fun Cash dollars in Dec. to buy DVDs as X-mas gifts, but, like you, I much rather would've used them to expand my BD collection.

I have always had crappy crappy service from Columbia House... will never use their service again... that's just me tho. Sure it is easy to decline the Directors Selection of the month, but they always sent it to me anyway. Three times I returned it and they never credited my account until I called them and told them I returned the title. They checked their records and said yup... we received it. This after waiting on hold 45 minutes each time... No thanks... not worth the headache to me.

Not had many problems with them, none at all last year. I just wait for the BOGO's and load up. By the end of the year I had 90 bucks in funcash, bought some DVDs I wanted. I still buy DVDs if they're cheap and unlikely to prolly ever go Blu. And YES this year they ARE going to allow people to use fun cash for Blus and for Box Sets as well

If they start a blu-ray club with a worthy intro package I'll join, but it's gotta be worthwhile!

I'm a member of CH. I joined for the intro packages and at times you could get DVDs for a great deal sometimes. However, I refuse to buy another DVD unless it's something off the wall that will never be on Blu Ray anyhow. Now, CH's BDs are an average of about $28. There are no deals to be had there. Not when you have Amazon with an average ten dollars below that. Pair that with their limited selection and you have a major fail.

In fact a deal came up called 3 for $60 and I went for it since I have two movies I have to buy for my commitment. Not really a deal but I have no choice and it's the best I'm going to get.

For me to join a BD club from them the prices would have to come down to at least an average of five dollars less and they would have to have a great intro package like they do with the DVDs.

I was a heavy user of Columbia House in the dvd era, but like most here do not purchase many dvds anymore. It is surprising they have yet to open a Blu-ray club, but I have the feeling the studios are holding that back.

Agreed, it is surprising they haven't already done this. It would probably be similar to Disney's, I'd imagine, where you got 3-4 BD's for a few bucks a piece and then have to buy about 5 in the next 3 years, making the total cost too high to be a good deal.
