The Ring

one of my favorite horrors ever.

Halloween was horrible
[Show spoiler] Zombie destroyed the essence of Myers: he only killed promiscous women (and innocent bystander boyfriends who got in the way). the Halloween remake was so stupid, Myers was killing everyone and anyone. i was ready for him to kick in the White house and start killing the president

Dawn remake was ok but
[Show spoiler] without showing the zombies IN THE MALL, it was not a true remake. why? because Dawn focused on greed/materialism, with the zombies representing us greedy consumers (big eyes, scratching on the store window). Dawn was a parody of consumerism and greed, so the Dawn remake just left all of that out, and hence wasn't even a true remake
. also IMO the "true" zombie doesn't run, they walk. its scarier that way. why? as romero said: "its like space invaders"..i dont know about you guys, but romero is right: that video game freaked me out, more than games where you're getting chased down

I agree with everything u said except for the Dawn of the Dead part! The Ring was awesome. I remember to this day when I saw it in the theaters and it blew me away that I brought friends with me next time to go see it. So I saw it twice in the theaters. Also I have said enough about that terrible Halloween remake so Ill just leave it at that! As for Dawn of the Dead, u have to remember all remakes dont follow shot for shot or every thing in the original. The fact that they were in the mall and there were a couple of zombies there as well, it still gave us the resemblence. One of the better remakes on this list to me. Got Em!!

Gotta go with The Thing here , as much as I do like the original Carpenter's one is superior in all levels.
Romero's Dawn of the Dead is IMO the greatest horror film of all time so Synder's remake had a hard act to follow, but I must say I did enjoy his reimagining of it too.
As for worst, well out of what I have seen there i would say The Wicker Man.
Also you forgot to mention all the Hammer remakes from the 50's and 60's IMO some amazing films completely forgotten about here -

Ah!!! I didn't see Night of the Living Dead on there, lol! that is definitely my number one horror remake, I like it A LOT more then the original.

I voted for Dawn of the Dead, I watched it recently and I liked it, reason is because it was TOTALLY different then the original, felt like a different story to me and I like that because I hate remakes, lol

For me?... Snynder's Dawn Of The Dead remake just edges out The Thing as my personal favourite. Why? speedy zombies scare the hell out of me!!!

However The Thing is a great movie on its own merit!
