Default amazon.com shipping

right so I order some disks from amazon.com and selected the cheapest inter-nation shipping. with the est of being 18 -30 days.

then amazon shipped it to me via UPS internation 2- 3 days shipping

which was nice but it meant having to pay 2 -3 times more on in handling charges on the import vat dut.

so just wandering do amazon do this often ie switch to UPS shipping when standard was pay for.

item was the wizard of oz 70th ultimate edition. so maybe it had something to do with the size and weight. as the other disk in the standard case shipped as standard shipping.

I've been waiting 2 weeks so far for an order I placed on "Black Friday"...They said my order would be here the 7th of Dec. I know they don't control how bad the Postal System is but they shouldn't print a date on arrival time. I live less than 300 miles from Dallas and it supposedly left there 48 hours ago. ( I took it a week to go from LA to Denver). I wonder if they are walking it here?

I'd call their customer service line and ask for an explanation not to mention a refund for the difference.

I have Amazon Prime and it took from 3 December 2009 to 9 December 2009 to arrive.

I never bothered calling CS to complin. At least I got it. If they start making a habit out of it. I will have to make "the call."

Guess it depends on where you live. I have prime and always receive shipments within 2 days.

I was considering putting off getting prime but after they tried to charge me $40 for express shipping on a Sony 360 I've decided to take the plunge sooner rather than later.

Prime is only good for stuff that Amazon stock, if you are buying from a 3rd party then you will have to pay the shipping even if you are a prime member or not..

Strange, I don't think I've ever had a problem with Amazon.com shipping or custom charges (I live in Canada). But I usually only get books from Amazon.com, so I don't know what it would be like for other items, or if it would even be different.
