Default Optimizing Your PS3 for Blu-ray

Pretty good article and video for novices (and/or those who are not sure what are good settings):

There were a couple settings in that article that were different then what I had so changed them. When I get a chance I'll see if I notice anything different.

One note: "Limited" outputs for displays calibrated to 16-235 video levels.

"Full" outputs for displays calibrated to 0-255 computer levels.

How do you know if your tv supports 255? because when i was in service menu changing my reds it was at 255, does that mean mine supports it?

if so should what should set them on? i dont know much about calibration

I have a KRP-500m --- Monitor. Does that mean I use RGB?

Cool. I actually think I'll set my Dynamic Range Control to "on" because the dialogue in movies is too low compared to the sound effects.

Note: the DRC setting only applies to Dolby codecs. DTS and Uncompressed PCM will still have the wide range dynamics.

Interstingky enough, I've fumbled through using trial and error and all of my settings are the same as the recommended. It's good to know that I appear to be doing something right for once with my settings!

NOTE: for the PS3 slim, and assuming u have an HD capable AVR, our site recommends "bitstream" for BD/DVD Audio Output Format (HDMI): https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=40872.

I don't think you can really say "this site" officially recommends bitstream over PCM. The "bitstream vs. PCM" argument is hardly settled. Many will argue you can't tell the difference between PS3 and AVR decoding when it comes to perceived audio output.
