Talking The Wal*Mart of Japan

Yamada Denki’s policy is to always provide the No.1 price in every area. Along with our complete lineup of products and services, our pursuit for the “lowest price” is the reason why consumers choose us.

We have introduced a system called “challenge for unlimited price warranty”, which guarantees the absolute best price in the area. Since then, by fully utilizing the merits of volume purchase and pursuing efficiency in distribution system, we have been striving to provide “reliable products at very reasonable prices.”

In addition to introduction of point reduction systems to all stores, installation of point-reward machines and “Keitai-de-Point”, next-generation point service using cellular phone, are some of the new challenges.

yes they sell blu-ray..the real point is blank 25 GB blu-ray discs $13.00. just one item that has gone down in price.if this keeps up the price's of blu-ray are going to drop within the normal prices of DVD good for US.

I doubt we'll see a drop in Blu ray disc prices for a while, maybe in a year or so, but no time soon. Unless you're talking about the blank Blu ray's, maybe that will happen.

Yeah, he's talking about recordable media. DVD recorders are very big in Japan, and Sony and Panasonic already have BD recorders selling for about $2500.

Japanese love the idea that they can take videos of their kids using a high-def camcorders and burn them on discs.

which is a telling sign. if blank blu-ray media is already dropping down in price from last year below HALF. that is was LAST year. by this time next year the media will be exceedingly cheap. how do you lower the disc's cost by selling more disc's ..

sale's use per format:

With blu-ray you have
MOVIE DISC'S BEING SOLD
BLANK MEDIA
and
GAMES
SOFTWARE

With HD DVD
MOVIES
BLANK MEDIA

i wonder who would be able to lower the cost of disc's faster.... , ,
