Default How to distinguish the versions of John Rambo?

Can anyone tell me how to distinguish the versions of John Rambo? I know there are three versions and all from Germany. Region code and accessaries information and pictures will be very helpful too.

The original Amazon release is easily recognizable due to totally different cover and it is the original Uncut version which was banned in Germany

The second release which is a MediaMrkt exclusive has a different cover and the first batch was suppose to be the "Cut" version but actually has the "Uncut disc inside

The latest release looks exactly the same as the first MediaMrkt release and the only difference is that the shrink wrap has a "recycle watermark" on the back cover. Supposedly the only way to distinguish it and it does now include the "Cut" disc inside. Hope that helps you out.

My MM reissue arrived today. Thanks American Baron.

So what was so bad about the uncut disc that lead it to be banned??

Our checking authority is very strange some times. Movies that show heavy payback, vigilantism and things like war crime are banned very fast. It's a little small-minded but we have to take this.

Thank you so much for your replies and help. So if the movie is uncut the word "uncut" would be printed on the disc? Or one should actually watch the movie before determine?

Thanks.

So would Warner have got into trouble for packing the uncut disc in the first release??

@richfell:

Not Warner. Actually Media Markt has to get in trouble for this. For John Rambo (uncut) the advertisement is forbidden.

There are two levels for movies to get "banned":

1. (indiziert) - no advertisement and no public trading
2. (beschlagnahmt) - it is illegal to sell the movie

Examples for #1: John Rambo, Predator Part 1, Crank High Voltage
Examples for #2: Hostel 2, Evil Dead, Ŕ l'intérieur

Yes just as Kaliraver69 mentioned the latest release has a 'recycling' mark on the back side of the shrink wrap. You can see this in detail in the link below by American Barron.

3rd 'CUT' version of John Rambo

So is the 2nd version (JR Cut Steelbook but Uncut Disc) now OOP?

Or is it still being produced?

OOP, indexed and the remaining disc has been destroyed.
It wasn't meant to be.
It was a mistake, let's see if it will soar now.

Oh ok.

So the 2nd version was available in stores for the same time as the 1st version?
Or was the 1st version available for a longer time before it too was indexed?
Correct me if I'm wrong but the first one was available for 3 weeks or so.

The very first was sold for a while before it got indexed but the second version was supposed to be cut and they printed and stored the indexed disc instead, as soon as they realized it, they pull it out the shelves but they received another shipement with the wrong disc to replace them!!!

That Watermark on the foil wrapper is only on the new "corrected" Version. The erroneous Version doesn't have it.

Like I said, shaky at best, but it is the only known difference between the 2 Versions....
If your disc have this mark your disc is Cut if not you have the uncut.
I love watermark, it could have been a sticker.

Cheers,
Gui.

I have got to respectively disagree with you here! I am no law major, but Media Markt ordered John Rambo CUT and that's what the "believed" was delivered. Both the Steelbook AND the Amaray were labeled FSK18 which is FALSE INFORMATION!! Warner obviously did not even produce any CUT Disks, yet they insisted they did. Then the insisted that it CUT, but just misprinted. It has, however, been proven that the Disks are indeed UNCUT.

Sorry, but Warner and Warner alone blew this one!!!! I'm actually surprised that the entire situation has been brushed under the carpet, but if anybody was get slapped with a heavy fine it would have to be Warner!!

Just my 2 Cents

That's right and wrong. Warner delivered the uncut disc but a few days before the release Media Markt knew about it and sold it anyway. Warner did not break any laws, just the contract with Media Markt. But Media Markt did.

Have to disagree with you again

Warner DID break the law by stating the Disk was FSK18 (as it obviously wasn't). What Media Markt did was merely "Morally questionable" at the worst. The Packaging and the Delivery Slip all insinuated that the Disk was FSK18 and MM sold accordingly. There was no way of knowing without opening them up. MM knew that and sold them anyway.

MM can easily play the "I didn't know" game, Warner cannot

But, it hardly matters as the whole situation has been swept under the carpet, so it's all speculation now
