Default Most-moving/gut-wrenching movie scenes

Yeah, I meant gut-wrenching! Bahahaha not gun-wrenching.

In your opinion, what are some of the movie scenes that have most moved you? Any that have literally brought you to tears?

Real men cry, right?! And if it's good storytelling and good filmmaking, then our reactions and emotions are a big kudos to the filmmakers.

Boats N Hoes in Step Brothers always brings a tear to my eye but something tells me that's not what you meant. Oh yeah, the interview fart scene makes me tear up, also.

The closest ones would probably be "The Passion of the Christ" (especially the second-to-last shot or so, showing Mary holding Jesus' body), and "Children of Men" (especially the scene at the end
[Show spoiler]when the main character and the woman walk out of the building with the world's only baby; all the fighting stops and everybody stares at them, a couple of people even bow down to them
).

They're powerful stuff.

The first Russian Roulette scene and the last Russian Roulette scene of the Deer Hunter. The look on Walken's face is chilling.

Can't say that I cared for the movie, but the one scene
[Show spoiler] when he does the Russian Roulette for the very last time
kinda got to me.

Armageddon - when the son runs to his father that he never knew after they landed!

Pursuit of Happyness - After he lands the job and walks outside.

John Q. - A few different scenes got to me.

Schinder's List - The ending with Schinder pouring out to the people and his assistant about what else he couldve done to save people.

Just to name a few! Got Em!!

You know, as much as I love Armageddon (I really do), that scene always bothered the hell out of me. Mainly due to the ex-wife being a complete and utter b.i.t.c.h to him earlier on, and telling his kid "that mans a salesman". But low and behold, he saves the world, no doubt going to end up famous and rich, and the b.i.t.c.h comes back and throws the kid on him, and cuddles up to him.

The backstory is that the guy was an utter failure of a father and husband due to his gambling addiction. She changed her mind when she realized the real reason behind his visit and believed that he changed his ways.

The 'backstory' was only shown in one gambling scene wasnt it? just at the casino when he says "finally!" ? Unless its shown in the film, you cant really refer to it...

The real reason behind his visit was shot down before he could even say anything "what do you want?, you know you cant come around here".

There was enough shown to logically assume that his gambling addiction was the reason for her animosity. She's probably heard all the excuses, apologies, and promises before and didn't want to hear anymore.

I've gone down her road. It wasn't gambling, though, but the effects are the same on a family. The addiction is so harmful on a family that sometimes the only way to mitigate the damage is by distance...which I've done also.

Anyway, in the movie it seemed to me that she realized the truth and wanted her son to know his father. IMO, he redeemed himself in her eyes and maybe that's what he wanted all along.

Fair enough, but I personally dont think his gambling addiction was shown at all. Its been a while since I have seen the Directors Cut, so maybe it was in that. But anyway, getting off topic.

And thanks to member "M," who pointed out that I failed to proof my headline and said "gun-wrenching" when I meant "gut-wrenching." Anyone know how to fix it?
