Evil Dead Reboot Still a Possibility

As long as Sam Raimi continues to work, there will be talk of another Evil Dead film, whether a third sequel or a reboot of the series entirely. The director never quite lets the idea die, and while doing early promotion for Drag Me to Hell he said he wanted to work on a new script with his brother Ivan Raimi. He later talked about the idea of having a young director remake the original film, so it could be seen properly on the big screen.

Now Mr. Raimi’s long-time producer Robert Tapert is perpetuating the idea of an Evil Dead reboot once more.

Speaking to Freep [via STYD] Mr Tapert said,

So, basically the same talk that has been going on for a couple years. And STYD adds that they know of quite a few writers and directors who have met about the remake. This is one case where I’d really rather see the first film (or the first two films, or all three) given some sort of limited roadshow re-release. I’m a bit surprised that this idea keeps kicking, to be honest. How would Evil Dead be Evil Dead without Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell?
