Default Help (G. I. Joe)

Ok, so this is an odd thread, i'm aware and it can be deleted as soon as it serves its purpose, but right now I'm at the store (using my iPhone) and I'm tempted to buy G. I. Joe on Blu-ray, but I don't know if it is worth it. I have read the reviews, some people love it, some people hate it, and i'm watching the movie at the store and it looks like fun. I'm just afraid it could be very, very silly. Take into consideration I love action movies, but everyone has their limits, haha. So I need advice, should I buy it? Or avoid it at all costs? What do you guys think?

I picked it up for under $20 and it was worth it. A little out there but if you liked the cartoon as a kid, you'll probably enjoy the movie.

I own it and liked it for good fun. If you can get it for under $20, I say go for it. Otherwise, a rental might be a better option.

it's a very enjoyable action flick. You will like it if you like action.

alot of people didn't like it because it didn't mimic the cartoons.

This was a fun movie. I liked it. I suggest you rent it first from Redbox.

To me, it was worth a rental, but it's not something I would add to my library.

I found it more enjoyable than Transformers: ROTF, but that's not saying much. To me, Marlon Wayans was the film's main detraction (this is where the silly part comes in), followed by the weak dialogue; without these and the G.I. Joe affiliation, I think it works as an action film.

I suppose it depends on how cheap the purchase is... if it's $9.99 at Blockbuster with a $3 off coupon... I'd seriously consider it.

I'd agree with that.

I'd give it a rent if I were you. The action sequences were alright, but some of the parts were totally unnecessary. Plus, the CGI effects look a bit overdone, and the plot is just predictable.

I said it then, and I'll say it now:
THIS is the keeping-the-faith children-of-80's-toytoons movie the Transformers sequel should have been.
Just pretend that other one never existed, folks (as critics just couldn't, unfortunately... )

In fact, it has now earned a spot on my Netflix personal-recommendation list of the 12 Most Unjustly Persecuted Good Popcorn Movies of the last few decades*, whose reputations were tragically blackened and witch-hunted by niche-fan hysteria, zeitgeist of their day, cheap-laff urban-legend, and bad theatrical-release timing:
http://www.netflix.com/StrangerLists...howList=351686
Few receive that honor unless they have given their lives to history.

---
(* - I would've made it 15 for a rounder number, but okay, maybe "The Happening" was a little goofy to go with its creepy, Tom Arnold in "The Stupids" requires a knowledge of children's-books most probably didn't have, and okay, Sean Connery in "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" was just too darn grumpy.)

Terrible TERRIBLE movie. The least it could do is stay true to it roots: the show. Which it did not. This also has the worst special effects I have seen in a movie with this kind of budget.

I loved the movie and yes it didn't stay true to the cartoon in story but it was still over the top like the cartoon. Anyways hope you enjoyed it, I love the Blu ray, it looks great and sounds great.
