I think full widescreen would be as wide as possible, 2.4:1. Which is what 300 is, or 2.35:1.

Diff movies are shot at diff aspects. Your TV is obviously only one size.. so it cant fit them all perfectly.

It has the black bars so you get the same experience you get at the cinema with no picture lost off the sides.

ok so i just bought 300, put it in the PS3, and it started up great...but here's the problem: HOW DO I KNOW WHAT AUDIO TRACK I'M ON???? PCM??? TRUE HD??? I WENT TO THE MENU, BUT MY MENU DOESNT HAVE AUDIO TRACKS, JUST A WHOLE LITTANY OF CRAP??? ANYONE???? anyone w/ Ps3, how are you switching b/n audio tracks????

there are PLENTY of threds on this topic! The aspect ratio on the film cannot be altered so if a movie is shot in a "black bar" aspect ratio, that is how it will be FOREVER, no matter what format

While watching the film make the OSD appear it will show you the current video/audio formats and bitrates on the upper right.

Using your PS3's remote to change the audio, or pressing the green triangle in the controller and selecting the audio options icon, you can change the audio, and see what it changes to, in the OSD
