Default The Prisoner wont play on my BD-player

I got a Panasonic DMP-BD60 Region Free. All of my other Region B locked Blu-rays works fine, but when I try to play the Prisoner i just get a message saying "This disc is playable in Region B only".

Wtf?? Whats the problem here.

Hmmm, thats very weird. Have you other Region B discs you can try to make sure that the player is functioning properly? Also, if you have 'hacked' the player and then updated the firmware, that can mess around with the Region Free settings.

This is an extremely weird situation. Make sure the discs are completely clean as the slightest scratch can result in playback issues.

The problem is that there are no Region-Free Panasonic DMP-BD 60 players. There are a couple of Panasonic models that - for unknown to me reason - have been able to bypass region coding on quite a few discs. Obviously, however, Network's The Prisoner is a title that your player is not capable of reading - and it should not be - because it is Region-B "locked".

This may seem like too obvious of an answer, but you should not have assumed that your Panasonic DMP-BD 60 would play every single Region-"locked" disc as the coding and registry keys are constantly updated by the content owners/manufacturers.

If you bought a modified Panasonic DMP-BD 60, or installed a Region-Free kit, then this is an entirely different issue, and you should be contacting the party you purchased it (player or kit) from.

I'd contact the seller as this is now a completely different issue as it has been modified to be Region Free.
I dont like to say this, but are you sure it was modified in the first place and the seller hasn't incorrectly said that about the player?

I would recommend then that you install the latest firmware upgrade - more than likely, this is the reason why you cannot view The Prisoner. Generally speaking, if you do so, your player should still be able to play discs from multiple regions (the only issues I am aware of were with the very early kits, on such players as SHARP and Pioneer).

Thanks for the answer. I want to wait with installing the firmware before im positive it wont mess up my player. How does the modifications of blu-ray players work?

Does anyone know where in the menu I can check my current firmware?

As long as it has been modded correctly so that it has completely changed how and what discs can be read, I would imagine that a firmware update would not change anything.

EDIT ---- From what I have been made aware, this is quite a hard player to MOD and takes a lot of time and precision. As long as all the wires inside have been soldered properly then a firmware update should work fine. If you have been able to turn your player on/off and still change the region coding from its original settings, a firmware update will be fine.

How do you do it? From what I have been made aware, you press either 1,2 or 3 on the remote to change the BD Region Code.

I dont do anything? Like I said, Ive played some region b locked films on this player before, and it went fine.

At what point do you mean I should press 1, 2 or 3?

From what I heard over at AVS, you have to press either 1,2 or 3 on the remote before entering a disc to play a BD from either region. DVD's are already region free and dont require any buttons to be pressed. As I say this is what I got from AVS and your mod could be different to theirs.
