I have update my firmwire twice and im not seeing a new one so im going crazy. The brand of player is a MEMOREX MVBD2511, someone please tell me something because the company dont know S**t.

Sorry to hear that. It sounds to me like the company is not supporting the player. My only good suggestion is to get a better player. I would suggest a PS3. I have never had a problem playing any blurays.

ok first, what software are you using to play your movies? Software is one of the biggest issues in why some movies will not play.

Can you disable your bd-live connection in your player?,if it has it.
I remember some movies wouldn't play because of the bd-live features. Disable your player from going online and see if it works.

Just checked and I don't think your player is BD-live capable, so scratch this comment.

Did some more research on your player. It seems this is a issue for everyone with this player.
This is a comment from another website about the player.

Thankfully the answer wasn't to sell it and get a new one. The previous firmware upgrades I had done were via USB as it was an option. USB is still an option but for some odd reason, I had to use a CD-R. Or at least, when I used a CD-R some additional text was displayed during the update and afterward.... the blu-ray discs all play now. Even the dreaded "Year One" that I had thought ruined my players. In conclusion, albeit the option is there to use USB to update firmware, I shall always burn to CD-R for any further firmware upgrades.

It sounds like the best way to do firmware update on your model is by cd-r.
Memorex has also removed this player from their website,so milk this machine for what you can because it doesn't sound like they'll be doing anymore updates for it.
Here's a link to the other site with your issues.

cwicks is using a standalone player; not computer software.

cwicks,

This is quite common with the cheaper brands/players. I'd recommend seriously considering a player from a higher end manufacturer. I've never had a problem with Sony and they've always provided firmware updates when needed; others would recommend Pioneer or Panasonic. I've also seen many users recommending to stay away from the Samsung players.

If cost is a concern, Amazon currently has the BDP-S360 on sale for ~$150.

EDIT: You may also want to check the Blu-ray Player and Recorders thread for more info on the Memorex.

Seriously...does everyone have to go off half-cocked at the mere mention of a PS3? If you're going to mock a post, get your facts straight. The Memorex is a stand alone player, not a drive on a PC.

Back to the OP's question, it sucks that you're having trouble and I hope some of these suggestions will get the problem solved for you. I've followed other threads that back the claim that burning the firmware updates to a CD will work. I'm not tech savvy enough to know why a CD works but USB doesn't, but there are many people out there that have found it to be the case. Firmware tends to be the culprit as other posters have stated, and hopefully that will get you up and running. Also, if you've got BD-Live on your device, deactivate it if you can. Although I don't believe G.I. Joe uses it, other newer titles (like Wolverine, for example) do. And people who had trouble playing that movie found it worked when they deactivated the BD-Live.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you might want to consider getting a different player. Not necessarily a PS3 or even a more expensive model like the Oppo. What's key at this stage is getting a player from a company that will continue to support it long into the future. Some companies do a better job in that regard than others. Like rdodolak posted, the Sony BDP-S360 is a good relatively cheap player ($150ish). You don't want to keep dealing with this issue months from now, and it sounds like Memorex has gotten their money and run.

Good luck and keep us posted.

So I gues I'm supposed to know he had a PC based Bluray player? All it said was Memorex and a model number. Seriously.

Cool. To the OP, I honestly wasn't trying to make you feel bad about your player, just making a suggestion. Hope you get it fixed.

Maybe I'm reading the OP wrong but it doesn't sound like cwicks is having trouble installing the firmware. cwicks stated that he has updated the firmware on the player twice before (in the past?) but he can't find a newer firmware release that addresses the problems with those specific discs.

If you want EVERY blu ray to play then you need a PS3.

Really.

Then technically he's in the wrong forum. He needed to post this in the forum above this one.

Discuss Blu-ray hardware, including players, recorders and camcorders. (not for PC hardware)

According to the Blu-ray Disc Association the spelling of "Blu-ray" is not a mistake, the character "e" was intentionally left out so the term could be registered as a trademark.

The correct full name is Blu-ray Disc, not Blu-ray Disk (incorrect spelling)
The correct shortened name is Blu-ray, not Blu-Ray (incorrect capitalization) or Blue-ray (incorrect spelling)
The correct abbreviation is BD, not BR or BRD (wrong abbreviation)
